whats a good long sword?

right now i have defender katana 2 and i was wondering if i should change my long sword go towards others like the flickering glow , etc. I just wanna know what is the best long sword on the tree.

For base game?
Defender, sadly, nothings going to beat it.
Before defender, it would've been Kulve Fire from Kulve or else supremacy blade from arena
For IB? Well, its mostly endgame monsters like Safi, Raging and Fatalis

How do i check what rank i am currently?

you can always check your guild card to see what HR/MR you currently are

there arent really guilds, think of it more like a hunter stat card, its just called a guild card tho

ok but where do i go to check my hunter stat card?

If you're in game then open the menu and go to info, it'll be the 4th choice from the bottom. you can also see your HR/MR on the character selection screen when starting the game.

master rank is when you start iceborne content, HR 10 is somewhere around beginning of HR storywise iirc, what story mission are you up to?

Well in base game the best non-elemental weapons are the defender weapons sadly, but if you have iceborne there are loads of overpowered elemental long swords.
In summary the long sword with the most damage is defender. But if you want to go elemental that's your choice
