The palico gets the giant shuriken Narga weapon instead. The hell Capcom?
not to mention a few of the actual unique designs just look bad too lol
Yeah this all makes sense, I guess it lacks the reflection of the monsters they are supposed to represent. For all intents and purposes I do like the base+plus deco system for late game layered customisation... it feels like a bit more freedom
I think the biggest blow is the Glavenus / Acid Glavenus Greatsword, that one put my Greatsword main friend straight into a crippling depression, lol - while Iceborne was being teased, they put up a screenshot of a player holding the Glavenus Greatsword and it was literally just your standard bone weapon with a piece of coloured scales to the haft, he coped by telling himself it wasn't the final version end of tree weapon and just an early game one lol. Poor guy.
Also they're all kinda...uninspired from the older games a little. My friend told me happily about Deviljho weapons being wrapped in chains and you could hear the chains rattling but then in World you can barely hear it (if at all) which kinda annoyed him, lol. Also hearing about stuff like Chameleos weapons slowly turning invisible as your power level increases with them I.E when you get up to level three spirit gauge with a Chameleos Longsword the entire blade turns invisible etc, that kind of stuff is really missing in this game.
Very few weapons do something cool, even the Hunting Horns are largely the same with a few (very few) exceptions, a lot of them just play the default instruments like the Didgeridoo and Bagpipes etc.
I can understand the annoyance, and we got Weapon Layering so late as well - all the cool unique designs being locked to dreadfully awful weapons for basically all of this games lifespan, not cool.
Yeah it would have been nice to have both options. I personally like tomahawks as a base, so I like being able to change the skin to fit my layered build... but yeah, it's sad we don't get the unique weapons.
Ah, yeah so MHW was not my first MH game, and I only started MHW after Iceborne, so maybe that has affected my view. Without layering it would have been painful for sure
Which uniques do you think suffered?
What the hell is a blunt weapon as small as a dual blade going to do to something like a Nergigante?
it feels out of place for the games progression as well. for the unique weapons, things make sense you get parts from a tougher monster to make stronger gear, but with the metal / bone + monster part design the monster parts dont serve a purpose in the design they only serve as decorations for the basic weapons you start the game with unless gluing monster parts to pieces of metal is supposed to make it stronger now as these new designs suggest.
Using precise application of jutsu techniques we bash all of these pressure points in order to inflict maximum pain and suffering with minimal physical damage, something that cannot be achieved with mere blades.
