Why do people dislike certain weapon designs so much in World?
I really like a lot of the weapon design choices in World, and was shocked to find quite a few people disliked one of my favourites (Narg DB/Tomahawks). Can anyone actually give a serious explanation as to why they dislike a certain weapon design? (not just "it looks bad")

I actually want to understand the viewpoint

For Kirin, all I gotta say about that is, it looks bad and it's also bad.

The worst of that kind has to be the Anjanath HH, both in looks and being just a terrible HH in general.. no attack/def buffs, weak sharpening, weak raw damage and also, -20% affinity! hah! at least it makes for an excellent walnut weapon. :p
damn half the hunting horns really do be ugly dont they :/
yeah I guess.

though I didn't mind the gold horns from KT, I kinda liked those tbh and Iceborne delivered on a lot of nice new designs.

I think my problem lies with the fact that, while we do have layered weapons, not all unique weapon versions are available.
For example, I really liked the squid design of the Daora IG, but it's not available as a layered option, even though it's so unique compared to things like the Kulve glaives.
They are though. You've probably just never obtained a critical component required to make them (usually a tempered guiding lands material for unique models).

For that specific example you need a "Tempered Steelwing" (from a Tempered Kushala Daora, fought in the guiding lands) to make it, it might not show up until you get one.

Can confirm, you need the material for it show up as an option in the layered list.

not sure what they look like, the narga db, never used them.

but i do definitely hate the look of glavenus GS turned into basic defender stick with monster parts onto it. Those weapons designs are what I'll definitely hate.

Because its all stock and generic and they had no imagination with it whatsoever. The greatswords all share the same bone/iron base very few trees branch into something different. Compare it to any other mh game you will see.

Yeah MHW is not my first MH...

I use GS heavily and there are plenty of unique designs in World... not all use the same bases. That being said, the transforming aspects of some of the metal bases (like the scythe) are absolutely awesome.

Agreed this is a problem. The Narg DBs are just the basic metal tomahawks with narg detailing on the hilt. I like the tomahawk designs, so personally I like the overall look, basicness aside.

Some of the basic looks are kinda nice, such as the Hammer with the triple blade basic look in the Ore tree, I really like how it looks when layered with the Black Diablos parts, looks like a mean spiky black Hammer and it matches the sharp curved horns aesthetic too.

Look at half of Brachydios weapons then look at Raging Brachydios weapons.

Lacklustre designs and variations compared to previous games.

Not everyone is that complex OP to "elaborate" on it much. Some people just dislike dem weird weapons for their looks or how underpowered they are. i don't dislike any though
