there is no easy answer to this question
it depends on your skill and builds

for melee and sticky guns normally health augment is always nice to have, so you can deal with chip dmg

affinity also sometimes nice to have especially on weapons with negative affinity

rest is up to you need an extra slot for your dreambuild go for it
want tiny bit more dmg take attck or elemental/status up

defence is in most cases considered useless but some people still love using it.

The "best" one for meele weapons is ussualy Health regen , at lvl 1 it gives you around 7% lifesteal(you heal for 7%dmg dealt) and at lvl 2 it's like 9? good to have at lvl1.
Affinity is only worth it at lvl 1 since it's 10% and then at higher lvls only gives 5%.
Attack is always good but there are other ones that might be more important.
Extra slots are bonus augumentation slots nothing else.
Defence gives you a flat ammount of defence BUT it also gives you a effect like divine blessing where you have a chance to reduce damage you take (chances and ammount depend on augument lvl)
Slot gives you a deco slot simple as that , it upgrades that slot at higher lvls.
Elemental/status effect up give you some bonus element/status on your weapon , pretty neat but not ussualy worth it (unless you go for very high element/status)
Custom upgrades work only on normal weapons like the ones from the ore tree , they add some monster parts to change the look at give you a miniscule boost like +1 attack +10 element or +1% affinity , but you can add a few of those and they don't take a slot so it's always worth it if you can add them to your weapon.

Every weapon from Rarity 10 to 12 can be augmented and have innate augmentation slots in them. The higher the rarity, the less slots. Extra Slots is a separate augmentation to the others, it level ups your weapon so that you can fit more augmentation slots in them. It's always good to have more slots.

Health Regen is something I'd highly recommend for general play as it heals you everytime you hit, depends on your damage and weapon type on how many you heal back.

Attack and Affinity are good too. Adds more damage or affinity, respectively. Attack adds 5 every level, Affinity adds 10 at first, then 5 on the next ones, if I remember correctly. You can go either way here. But from what I remember, Affinity is better in general, especially if you are focusing on Critical related skills.

Element/Status Up is mainly for Elemental builds. Could be useful for status as well. Its also a kind of a slot filler if you have extra slots.

Defense is also kind of a slot filler if you want a little bit more defense, not really worth it though.

Slot Upgrade, not really sure if this one is worth it, only case I presume is that you REALLY need that extra decoration slot in your build and have space for it in your weapon.

Custom Upgrades are mainly for the Ore, Bone and Dragonbone lines of weaponry. Basically, any weapon without a unique appearance. It adds some little upgrades to the weapon. Since you're using the Immovable Dharma, a weapon with a unique appearance, you don't really have to think about this part.

Editted btw, forgot Custom Upgrades

extra slots is usually not worth it, since it costs to many augment slots, unless you get something absolutly essential for you build, which you can not slot in otherwise, without sacrificing another essential skill. if you want to use extraslots for more damage, it is not worth it, since the other augments are better for that.

affinity increase is propably the best augment, when it comes to damage. the first affinity augment grants +10% affinity, while each other affinity augment grants +5%. the first one (+10%) is pretty much always worth it unless you get to 100% affinity without much investment (when your weapon has alot of base affinity).

attack increase it the second option to increase your damage. this is only worth it, if your weapon has VERY HIGH base affinity or if you already have an affinity augment on your weapon and still want to increase it's damage.

defence increase is only worth it, if you have 1 augment slot left and dont want to go for elemental/status increase, since these are the only 2 options which cost 1 slot

elemental/status up is only worth it, if you want to go for an elemental or status build

health augmentation give you lifesteal. it heals you in proportion to the damage you deal. the more health augmentations you put on your weapon, the better the heal gets (i think it is around 7% of your damage dealt with 1 health augmentation). pretty much always worth it for meele weapons for comfortable farming/hunting. if you want to min/max your damage though, skip this one.

slot upgrade increases the number of augmentation slots your weapon has to offer up to a maximum depending on the rarity of your weapon (rarity 12 weapons for example start with 3 slots and can get up to 6)
important to note though, while you can remove all augmentations and custom upgrades from a weapon to get the mats you spent back, you CAN NOT remove the slot upgrades.
pretty much always worth it if you want to use a weapon alot.

custom upgrades can be used on weapons, which don't have their own special model, so if you use a weapon, which looks like a normal bone or steel weapon with some monster parts glued onto it, you can use the custom upgrades. custom upgrades don't use augmentation slots, so they do not collide with the other augmentations.
it's usually worth to go for either attack up or element/status up, everything else is subbar in my eyes. element/status up when you go for an elemental/status build, attack each other time

I can only answer for Bows, DB and LS.

Bows and DB always element/status up, nothing else.

LS health regen 1 is a must, the rest either, regen 2/attack up. I'm assuming this also applies to slow weapons like GS/Hammer and so on.

I was looking for this exact thing yesterday; I'm 100%ing, so I pretty much just walked in and out of the Guiding Lands so far. Answers always seem to be, "Just do it." I'd imagine you're intended to study the charts, but I can't even find anything helpful on planning Custom Upgrades now.
"Yeah, I'll take ONE Attack, 1% Affinity, 4 Defense and 10 Blast. That sounds like a coherent build."
Kawalorn 9. dec. 2020 kl. 4:06
Health regen, pretty much always. Exception can be bow (though still not useless on it) and Heavy Bow Gun focused on Spread Shot. That augment ignores multiple hits at the same time and just gives health for one of them.

After that, if you are lacking some affinity got for affinity and status/elem.

If not, go for attack, if weapon is raw focused or 2 status/elem, if it's element focused.

Custom upgrades are separate so you can just focus on attack on raw weapons and element on elemental focused weapons.

i always have health regen.. never used potions since then
pretty dependent on build though. but since you're using gs, health regen is good since you can keep doing the tackle to block all kinds of knockback and keep doing dmg
