Master Rank Layered Armor?
So I've not played since Furious Rajang was released. I've since progressed to Alatreon and working on my first Fatalis kill

Do you have to kill Fatalis to unlock the new MR layered armors? I've fought and killed a tempered Banbaro and Brachydios today in guiding lands, but I've not gotten their armors unlocked despite the Wiki claiming you only need to kill them in GL to do so. What am I missing?

what too complicated for you? just hunt normal monster and not tempered one then.
I checked the crafting list and both Banbaro layered and Brachy layered need the tempered material, not the normal one. Before you get all condescending, how about you make sure what you're instructing is accurate?

It shouldn't be gated behind Fatalis. Are you running any mods? Is it possible you didn't collect any of the unique tempered material from the guiding lands?

you only need to search the material on guilding land, the material drop from normal monster not tempered one, so you need meld that to normal one.

The MR layered armors don't require Fatalis. They are limited to what Guiding Lands materials you've unlocked. If you go to the Melder and check what she can meld for you it's a good reference to which parts from the guiding Lands you might be missing. Otherwise, they should be on the Smithy.

I literally never knew anything about the Melder being involved in GL stuff lol

She can craft lower end parts from higher end monsters. If you've yet to face a tempered monster you can tell by the lower end part requiring a "???" piece to make. That means you haven't fought the tempered version of this creature. There's probably an easier way to check this info in your guidebook, but this is the method I used to make sure I'd hunted each monster, normal and tempered, at least once.

Some of the armors require Commition Ticket+ only obtainable at MR100 to show up on the craft list though, so if you're lower level you won't see them at the smithy because you've yet to obtain the ticket.

These tickets might even gate off even the armors that might not require them.

Some of the new Master Rank armor requires tickets from events such as those from Muscle Monkey Madness/Mighty Muscle Monkey Madness.
