Is Iceborne worth it for a new player?
I am wondering if the content in Iceborne are only for players that are done with the base game or if it is content that you can engage in from day 1 so to speak. Is there any point in getting it if I'm completely new?

I mean if you're yet to play the full world content it's probably best to delay iceborne so you can get more out of both worlds and iceborne. If you move onto iceborne without completing world, and you end up going back to it with iceborne equipment, it'll be too easy. But it's essentially up to you whether you want to enjoy the latest content or not

To be fair outside of AT creatures, base game was already relatively easy.

Dont get iceborn if your new, play world see if u enjoy the game dont mind the grind for armor etc then decide if u will continue.

Play world how it is then see iceborne changes more fun that way :)

Iceborne's moveset changes and the Clutch Claw are available in the base game, all of its other content like new monsters and all associated events/armor sets/master rank require you to have access to the DLC. Iceborne's longer than the base game, it's a continuation to World after the end of High Rank.

Play the main game first, without using the Defender sets. See if you like it. Iceborne does not change much from the main game, so be sure you like the main game before you buy Iceborne. The main changes to the base game are a few new moves added to some weapons, and the Clutch Claw. Neither are necessary for the main game.

If you have 50 hours and your still playing, I would get iceborne :) it opens up some new moves that you can use in world, as well as the clutch claw, it's pretty much an entire game worth of content :D

The thing about any Monster Hunter title is that you always get your moneys worth. If you like what you've seen so far and want more then whatever price of the game, even older titles, is worth it.

Thank you for all your replies. I'll stick to the main game for now. Reason I asked is because some games really benefit from having all the expansions from the get go, like in Elite Dangerous where if you don't have the Horizons expansion then you can't land on planets.

We had the base game for over a year and while we had to wait between event releases none of that required nor currently requires the Iceborne expansion. So, plenty of content to get through.

Wait till you finished the base game. It picks up right after the ending and by that time, you should also know if you want more of that game or not.

I don't recommend it to new one. If you want to do that, you should first ask that they want to enjoy heavy, repeating contents. World is not bad for lightly enjoying users but IB is only good for maniacs or old fans on MH/MHW. I tried with smurfs and I really got boring when I raise HR/MR to meet ruiner Nergigante and running through guiding land. They are really tiring works and monsters are all nonsense to slow/heavy weapons in IB. You need to check which weapon he/she want to play in IB. That should be 'VERY' important when they start the IB.
