she cause more trouble then the monsters
she never shut up not even when she stuff her mouth with food and that like always except when she's causing troubles
she takes credits for your actions while doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing to help
And perhaps because she's extremely plain, compared to other female characters in the game, especially the various Lass types, too.
Her general character and personality is based around being "innocent" and "naive" but also eager and excitable which makes her act like a doddering dumbass instead of perhaps something more appropriate to her position I.E Serious Handler like.
Also the meme about her doing nothing but eating, constantly. It's a characteristic but from what I can tell most people view it as a negative one, especially considering she almost dies because of it thanks to Deviljho.
Her weird behaviour during the story towards the Tracker doesn't help either, they've never met each other before but she acts like the Tracker is her mother or something, hugging her immediately and fearing for her very safety, it's even weirder in Iceborne too.
The fact when she appears in quests you're usually stuck following her being slow and stupid until you can handle the quest and monster yourself, which most players already knew exactly what was coming and where to go, so she's more like annoying padding than anything.
Stupid facial expressions, that induce intense cringe when viewed - maybe in Japan the weird animations, expressions and gestures she does comes across as cute or something but it seems in the West she just looks kind of uh, well I don't know the politically correct term for "thick in the head" so that'll just have to do lol.
It's also popular to hate her even if you would otherwise feel absolutely nothing towards her anyway, and often saying you like her is met with accusations of contrarianism, so people who actually do like her might be discouraged to speak up, inflating the hate count?
Meh. Many reasons.
For me it's because she teleports around in the Grinding Lands and makes it annoying trying to report investigations, lol. Just stay in the same place, damn you!

I watch zero MH related stuff or any of those so called "big" streamers and such and she's still annoying as ♥♥♥♥ for a multitude of reasons people have already mentioned.
I feel.like it all starts when you first arrive in astera, and your palico running up to hug the stranger (handler) rather then their actual partner (you)
It feels like betrayal ;D
I feel like they did a better job on iceborne, the handler feels a bit more natural, but it still feels like they are trying to convey all the emotions they think the Hunter may experience through the handler, as they don't want to put emotions or words.in your character's mouth, but it still comes out a bit off
My 2 cents, I generally don't care too much either way ;D
i have the old halloween one the new one look sweet
I also really hate how much she emphasizes “we” when she doesn’t do anything.
I would appreciate NPC’s in this game infinitely more if they actually DID stuff during quests sometimes. I know it would be hell to program an NPC to fight like we do but they have shown they somewhat can like the guy helping you in the fatalis assignment.
Otherwise Greb’s comment pretty well summed it up.
Also let's not forget after beating some big bosses she goes "WE did it partner!", which I think they did tone down in IB.
tbh tho I don't hate her. iceborne really improved her character imo to the point im totally fine with her being the pc's handler
To someone new to the series like me, the Handler and the Tracker cutscenes made it seem like they have history with each other, but they don't? See, that's weird.
I don't mind being the partner of the Handler btw.
