Your opinion about Fatalis
Hey everyone,
I would like to know what everyone thinks of Fatalis

I haven't defeated him/her yet but still I would like to know what everyone thinks of Fatalis and if anyone agrees or disagrees with my opinion but yea..

I personally have kinda mixed feelings about his battle. I mean don't get me wrong I kind of like his moveset and his combos (which could get you killed if you mess up once) I don't even mind his damage nor his health those are perfectly fine for me. I mean his story already mentions his attacks and what it did. Battletheme is good aswell and having to use the slinger twice in order to get some high damage from a "wall bang" is unique aswell and his phases are fine by me aswell. Also the fact that dragonpods make him flinch for a short time (2 hits with "normal" shots and 1 with a slingerburst during a longsword spirit combo for example) seems pretty nice and is pretty helpful sometimes. The only thing which really annoys me are his hitboxes: just had a battle against Fatalis: He did his one Firebreath attack which goes through the whole area in front of him (sometimes as a beam and sometimes covering the whole area in front of him) I ran away from the beam (my character refused to do the jump) : It hit me before it even touched me but my character flew away as if the beam hit me from the front even though it should have hit my back or I got some cover behind those broken stone pillars and still got hit aswell or in general whenever Fatalis slides on ground I sometimes stand 5 metres away and I still die because it "hit"

thanks for reading and I hope I get to know other people's opinion :)

I had mixed feelings too when I could not defeat him...

Got Gud and loved the fight, its kinda annoying the almost one shot fire attacks even if you stack defense or fire resistant so I hunt fatalis again in MHFU and I also got almost one shot on most of his attacks.

Therefore in terms of damage its not like its too much, he always punched hard XD

Good fight, but Alatreon is much more fair in terms of monster aggression and hitboxes.

She's still boring. Fatalis was never a fun fight in Monster hunter when the servers were up and wasn't in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and still isn't fun in this game.

I guess it's not all bad seeing as she doesn't have armor mode or Constant Rage. But putting so much time and effort and different builds for a Hyper ♥♥♥♥♥ up monster fight was not my funnest time playing this game.

Good thing is, She's optional. There For, I can say that dumb special mission is off my list and I won't bother with her again.

Personally, I'd rather have another Siege event and the monster being Lao Shun Lung. Miss that Ultimate Heavy Bowgun, and yes, I do find Lao Fun. Dunno why.

It kinda feels like it is near mandatory to use everything at your disposal during the fight. You can get away with not doing one or two things but it will make the fight much harder then it has to be.

5 cannon shot with a lvl2 Heavy Artillery is 450 damage per shot. 2,250 if all 5 hits x2 if you fully loaded the 2nd cannon and if all of those hit you'll deal 4,500 damage total. Wall Bang is another 3.8-4k damage. All of this can be done at the start fight. That is a lot of Damage you can deal and you'll be foolish if you ignore it. This is not optional for many groups.

Most of the groups that I've joined that ignored the cannons and early wall bang have failed the quest.
Heavily scripted.
A few cheap moves due to hitboxes.
Heavy ai rng.
Technically not fun.

I had high hopes for Fatalis after the magnificent fight that was Alatreon and it did not met my expectations, yes the fight is hard but that's only part of what makes a great fight.

Alatreon is in all honesty just so much more enjoyable than Fatalis. The huge hitboxes (hah fatty) combined with his wombo combos just make me cry sometimes. His theme is average imo but man when the song kicks in after dragonator thats the real ♥♥♥♥ right there. His hp really isnt a problem and his damage wouldnt be a problem either if he didnt combo every single hit into another causing surefire way to die from one mistake even with maxed armor.

Its still a good fight but Alatreon is just better.
Fun, easy once you git gut.

EDIT: boolshite body slam hitbox

I personally enjoyed fatalis more then Alatreon, it can off muchore epic, the rewards made the pain feel worth it, and even though there were wipe mechanics, they were softer, such as the blue flame, you don't have to break the head, but your I. For a lethal fight if you don't, whereas escaton judgement, while not super difficult to suppress, was a garuntees wipe if you didn't, the move starts, and your left with...oh well, better luck next run

With fatalis, if you hit phase three without a headbreak, it just pumps up the adrenaline, and while your odds are unlikely, you have a chance :D

I personally prefer fatalis, while more difficult, he didn't have surprise mechanics like Alatreon, and even though his hitboxes aren't as tight as Alatreon, they aren't particularly bad either (his charge hitbox is super high, but so is anjanath and many others, sad insect glaive noises)

I like it, I like watching people cart all the time, it's fun

But it's also kind of boring with the "hide behind there" old mechanics and the need to keep hitting the head most of the time so it doesn't one-shot you later, it makes me use the CC to the head 80% of the time instead of fighting the way I want, it'd be a better fight without the horn mechanic.
Hip hitbox sucks. Other than that.

I freakin love it.

It separates the men from the bois. Me like.

I like the fight (cuz it's better than his previous version) but I wouldn't call it a good one, mostly due to deceptive hitboxes. I don't have any problem with huge hitboxes in general, it's the misleading one. Meanwhile you have near-perfect hitboxes like Alatreon's.

Besides the occasional hitbox frustration here and there, it's a fun as hell fight. I've got pretty much all I need from him and still wanna fight him. That's how much I enjoy it. I run a comfy set against him with divine blessing 5 and some evade window, so I can tank even some of his fire attack and superman dive the rest.

In the end, Alatreon was easy and much more forgiving, that made him more fun to fight when I'm in the mood for some casual challenge. Fatalis is for when just wanna go ham on a god and feel like a badass (or a failure, depends on how the hunt goes lol).
The fight is a great challenge, and that rush of dopamine I got from my first kill was amazing. Great way to cap off World/Iceborne in my opinion.

It's a well balanced fight with no 1-shot gimmicks you either can't weaken later, tank or outright avoid. It's visually pleasing, "fixes" one of the lamest monsters in the series (mainly because old Fatalis nor it's alts ever lived up to the lore) and is an intense fight from start to finish. It has some scripted moments, but they are tied to its HP (which is a good way to judge how well the fights going) and more for visual effect and to remind you you're up against a badass that didn't take you seriously at first.

The scripted elements also show a progression in the fight as more tools for you to use are made available without having to switch zones. The use of the roaming balista is always fun and a welcome return and once you hit Fatalis with the dragonator and hear the OG "Proof of A Hero" it gets you pumped up at the right moment as Fatalis holds nothing back, fighting you tooth and nail in a final climactic clash.

The fact the cinamatics leading up to the Fatalis fight have you essentially reliving the intro to MHW, along with this song, is like it's welcoming you back to the Old World after a long adventure in the New World. You're the enigma hunter with a history behind them bringing back your new experiences and prepared to face the god of monsters.
