Chinese got really offended by a joke.
https://twitter.com/zhugeex/status/1334794969727569924
Best part about this is that they review bomb MHW and Capcom who have nothing to do with the scripts in the movie aside the licensing and monsters. From a movie that produced by Tencent
dont ask me why they got mad at this specific game that has nothing to do with the movie's production instead of the movie, they're mainland chinese, they dont have logic
In one of the scenes, there are 2 soldiers driving:

Caucasian soldier: What?
Chinese soldier: Look at my knees! What kind of knees are these?
Caucasian solder: ...
Chinese soldier: Chinese.
This sparked unhappiness from audience as it is part of a racist joke that is very old which goes like:
https://youtu.be/dQAioyDTMA4
The racist element is the making fun of the asian eyes and the fact that asians used to work as indentured labourers and naturally will get their clothes dirtied due to the need to kneel down when doing such work. It is akin to talking to african americans while saying they pick cotton well or something along such lines (no offense to anyone).
As such, this resulted in a number of such audience coming to review bomb the game and bringing up the issue in the game forums even though the issue is with the film and Capcom has no involvement in the writing of the script.
The movie and related wordings of this incident are now supposedly banned in China.
Well, I dont really see it racist that much as the Chinese did come over for the labor for a better life, but is it somehow tied into something else?
Just wait for a few days and this will all blow over. Also try to report these threads, they're bloating the GAMING forum with UNRELATED topics and baits
Probably not as bad as a slave but not really equal footing with the society as well.
So, that's probably where the anger is coming from.
I am of Chinese race myself but even I never heard of the racist joke before. So, I guess to most people, myself included prior to some research, it just seems like a harmless pun especially since the line is delivered by a Chinese actor, making it similar to how African Americans can use the N-word to refer to themselves in their lines.
Welp, tyvm for the info and the clarity now.
