Edit: I was thinking more Assigned Quest-related ones with my initial comment. But for re-doing the Sieges and the Final Bosses, those cutscenes can be skipped.
I did the question because I'm not aware of all the Iceborne changes and updates. Maybe they added an option to skip cutscenes, I don't know. So, I wanted to ask y'all about it.
But, sadly, it seems they didn't.
I would personally suggest you recreate a character AFTER completing the IB quest line.
I've created 3 on PC by now, 2 of which have already finished the IB storyline while one is still a fresh character
At the end of the day it is their game and this is their decision. I feel that we should respect that and I wouldn't consider this to be such a major flaw as some people make it out to be. I'm currently playing through the game again with a new character as a means to learn new weapons and I honestly don't mind the cutscenes.
You may feel different about it, but I wouldn't consider it to be a dealbreaker. I highly recommend Iceborne if you loved the basegame and it's definetly worth it. It adds so much new content to the game. It basically doubles the amount of content. I wouldn't let the unskippable cutscenes deter you from purchasing this DLC. It's truly an amazing DLC and I highly recommend it if you enjoyed the basegame.
Let's be real here, you don't play Monster Hunter for the story, you play it to Hunt Monsters. Don't you?
The story is not even great in order to eat it all again.
I'm gonna consider yours and Popcorn's feedback though. You were polite.
I'm sorry if my thread triggered you Tregrenos, but I just did a question, don't take it personal.
All I wanted to know if I'd be able to skip cutscenes now, because if you create a new character, yes, you MUST watch all the unskippable cutscenes AGAIN.
I don't understand your final analogy though. You started talking in plural, and I don't form a part of any group or colective so. Do what you do.
Have a good day.
That's correct and yes the story leaves a lot to be desired at times. I generally play it for the monsters and I really appreciate the cutscenes that show a newly discovered monster for the first time and introduce it to the player. The best part of the story is the lore surrounding the monsters and the cutscenes really show their unique characteristics. The majority of the cutscenes fit this criteria so I generally like most of them.
I completely understand that some people find the cutscenes to be a little intrusive to watch. I personally don't mind them, but we can't change Capcom's decision.
I certainly wouldn't want to miss out on Iceborne just because of the cutscenes. This DLC adds so much to the game and it's one of the best DLC's I have ever played. Don't miss out on it over the unskippable cutscenes! If you liked the basegame then you'll love Iceborne and it's great to see some of the older monsters make a comeback as well if you've played previous instalments in the series.
If you love the monsters then Iceborne is exactly what you want as it adds a significant amount of new and interesting monsters to hunt in addition to adding a few familiar monsters from the old games as well. It almost doubles the amount of available monsters in addition to adding 2 new regions to explore.
I hope this helps make your decision a bit easier! I still recommend Iceborne even if you dislike the cutscenes. It's definetly worth it!
the other way around this is to download 'friendly hero' savegame, which has already watched all cutscenes, then use your free character edit voucher to stand at the top of Win Mountain, and yell: "lmfao screw you devs i dont have to watch your dirty cutscene!"
