does it work with non elemental weapons or is elemental weapons a must in order for it to activate?

Frostcraft set skill does not require elemental damage.

It actually is best used on Greatswords which is one of the worst weapons when it comes to element.

so i can use any GS with or without elemental and i will get benefits from the armor + set bonus? was thinking on Velkhana divinity 2 piece bonus since it says "increse elemental damage".

Yes. Though obviously the other skill set Critical Element will not activate. So you should go for Frostcraft with 4 pieces.

EDIT: To make it clear.

2 set bonus Critical Element will do nothing on non-elemental weapons and there are way better ways to get it anyway.

4 set bonus Frostcraft works on every weapon and is particularly good with Greatswords.

If you want the first, you need element the second does not need element.

In case of Greatsword, you can barely manage to do any elemental damage because of how it works. They barely benefit from Critical Element. In their case you want a weapon with as much Raw damage as you can get. If you want JUST Critical Element for GS it's not really worth it.

Best weapons for elemental dmg are usually the faster ones, ie DB, SNS, and LBG.
CB is fine too if youre using the savage axe mode.
All the others is mostly just raw dmg

ok, no i was just a little confused since i thought its good to unlock and use the gear sets on armor. trying to figure out what i want to use, there are a few so its a little overwhelming to look at and know what is good or not. i do prefer raw build, dont care that much about elemental.

The one and only elemental fight you'll face is just Alatreon, but all wpns are treated equally in that fight via the elemental ratios for each wpn
