I don't think it will be good.

Due to budget reasons, they are likely going to have maybe Wildspire Waste and/or Ancient Forest kind of locations only.

The majority of the film is likely going to be in modern world areas so this is gonna be more Jurassic Park than Monster Hunter.

The story is supposedly this soldier character trying to stop some portal between our world and the Monster Hunter world and I really doubt they are gonna be able to show Monster Hunter in a way that is not like Rampage, Godzilla or Jurassic Park.

The only difference from those movies will likely just be the weapons used so I think this movie will likely be 70% Jurassic Park and 30 Monster Hunter.

Edit: I wrote all the above before watching the new trailer. After watching it, I think I will change 1 part. Majority of film does not seem to be in modern world areas but I am quite positive that at the last act, the monsters will go to modern areas simply because there is another test trailer of a fight between Gore Magala vs Rathalos in a modern setting. Also, I am still quite positive they have desert and forest settings only for budget reasons.

after what they did to Resident Evil franchise, this will not be good
It'll probably be terrible. Whether it's entertaining terrible or unwatchable terrible I don't know. I expect alot of awkward pronunciations of monster names.
i mean .... paul W anderson is well known for not taking what ppls want from a game to a movie
they have a universe , characters , concept .... there is no need to bring the america army in this ... people want a movie about the video game and the monsters , not of random ppls going to this univers
the weapons wont probably be explained , the world probably not explored ... im not waiting anything from this movie tbh

the amount of cgi on this are gonna be ridiculous , and some of it on the trailer is alerady hell

Monster Hunter Universe has a lot of stories and vast world, US army joining that world is a ♥♥♥♥ move, that's just a lazy story telling.

No that's an attempt to make it appealing to a general audience.

Film wise , the characters always develop themselfs , it being an evolution of the character mind like doctor strange as an exemple , just a character evolving in something bigger ... and here i doubt there will be anything more than fight monsters and go out of this world
there are really good plots and storys in the many monster hunter games alerady

also the developpers seems to approve :

If you have watched the resident evil movies, which are directed by the same person, then you know to not expect anything good from this either. Maybe you can get a laugh here and there.

No, that's lazy story telling. Don't change my mind. If you want army join the other world, then adapt Gate instead. You don't need to bring any modern warfare to MH universe. Bcs that do not make any sense, minigun/rpg/tank can't slay a monster, while bow+arrow or stick with bugs can slay them easily.

2 hours of unskippable cutscenes
Given the director's track record... I'm not optimistic. The monsters look cool, I think I saw a quick shot of Gore Magala, which is cool. I remember seeing a demo reel of Gore vs a Rathalos which looked really cool. However, if I see this movie, it will be for the monsters, and only the monsters. I can see a Monster Hunter Isekai* being cool. Honestly, it's not even a bad idea. Having people 100% unfamiliar with the Monster Hunter universe provides an excellent reason to deliver exposition, showing the ways of the hunters, and how they maintain balance in the ecosystem.

The problem is the ones who are being Isekaid. Why did they have to bring in guns and the army? I can get stranding a bunch of random people in the Monster Hunter world, but the army? It's unnecessary. Nothing against our troops, but there was no reason to include them in this movie.

*Isekai: Common term for an anime that involves someone from the real world entering a world of fantasy, with a world typically resembling that of a video game.

Yeah. They could have just transported some random group of people. Didn't have to be the army. Now, we have this stupid little asterisk in the world this movie is trying to establish, where weapons from the real world that don't work against the monsters from the Monster Hunter world. All they needed to do was just not transport guns into a universe that isn't anywhere near balanced for modern weaponry, and they wouldn't have to add that illogical caveat.

Had to witness a Rathalos doing a superhero landing...

And got confirmation that the whole "let's fight monsters with knives" is even more stupid in live action than it already is in the game.

Also, you know how alot of couples make their own private sex tapes?
I guess Anderson and Jovovich do actual movies instead, with million dollar budgets.
Dragging potential of the franchises through the mud.

Payed with government film funds (and people's taxes) since this is financed by Constantin (Germany, 100% sure German film funds = taxpayer money), Tencent (China) and Toho (Japan).
Pros: Seeing the monsters in modern cg.
Cons: Everything else
i love the games
but the movie? naahhhh, look awkward and little bit cringey to me
