Some of the armor pieces are good.

He's an early MR monster and his gear isn't all that impressive relative to the options you have.

The armour is actually great, at that moment in the game without agitator monster's roars do nothing but stop your combos and annoy you.. that set has earplugs lv5
speed eating is also nice

Also Free Meal, it's great

The weapons are ok. 280 true raw, good sharpness, but negative affinity. Don't have to worry with handicraft.

They're basically the "okay, now it's time to make a Master Rank weapon and stop using my augmented R8 one" weapon tier, in my opinion.

yeah pretty well said. i think i started a CB of his or something of a similar tier to replace my Diablos one. didnt feel like upgrading the diablos one at that point. then i used whichever one it was till brachy and then i made that one. i was sad i couldnt upgrade it to the raging brach one and it was a standalone forge only... so i sold it and made my lightbreak one.

Indeed. When you first gain access to it it, or at least 3 pieces of it, makes for a very good comfy set that should easily get you through the rest of Iceborne's story.

After that it sort of falls by the wayside, partially in favour of Tiggy's cousin, but mainly thanks to Kulve Taroth's MR armour also granting the secret while being a generally better set, and now Fatalis's armour doing, as it kind of has with just about everything else, being better still.

Fun fact: Zinogre is the most hunted Iceborne monster and Brute Tigrex is the least hunted Iceborne monster, which is what their event quests featuring them is all about. Zinogre gives bonus rewards of Dragonvein Coal, while Brute Tigrex gives...bonus rewards of armour spheres.

So Brute Tigrex won't even be hunted even in quests designed to make him more appealing to hunt, I'd rather just hunt Zinogre and then turn the coal into buckets the armour spheres from the Steamworks lol.

Maybe they'll have some associated tickets or whatever for something cool, but I doubt it.

Tigrex, a nice returning monster but in my opinion not a very fun one. That one arena quest where you have to fight a Tigrex and a Brute Tigrex together? I was amazed Capcom managed to top the cancer that was the Diablos + Black Diablos arena duo, lol.

Never again! No!
Nope.
Just because a monster is a classic doesn't make it good.

I use 3 pieces for the speed eating + free meal on my healer build.
Kaz Oct 13, 2020 @ 10:46pm
his armor is ok to get. the free meal is good for a while but i do prefer the brute tigrex's armor instead.

Tigrex armor was my go-to for the most of the Iceborne until the final fight. It's super useful if you're a chump like me, who just gets thrashed around during first encounters, since upgraded Free Meal with Speed Eating means that you can chug for days without worrying about monsters interrupting you much. Also Earplugs is great if you don't know how to roll through roars

This has been an issue of mine with the event quests for most and least popular monsters. The popular monsters are fun to fight, hence why they're popular, but the rewards are also great. Lots of decorations from the Greatest Jagras and lots of coal from Zinogre.

The problem is the least popular monsters suck ass to fight, and the rewards are never a good enough incentive to bother. The Lavasioth quest doesn't give nearly as many decorations as great Jagras and its a longer and more annoying fight. Same for Brute Tigrex. Its such an annoying monster to fight and the small amount of armor spheres you get is an immediate turnoff. Which is a shame, cuz I'm always upgrading new sets so I could use the spheres. But like you said, you can literally use the Zinogre quest to grind coal and just use the Steamworks for a much better output.
