speed eating is also nice
Also Free Meal, it's great
After that it sort of falls by the wayside, partially in favour of Tiggy's cousin, but mainly thanks to Kulve Taroth's MR armour also granting the secret while being a generally better set, and now Fatalis's armour doing, as it kind of has with just about everything else, being better still.
So Brute Tigrex won't even be hunted even in quests designed to make him more appealing to hunt, I'd rather just hunt Zinogre and then turn the coal into buckets the armour spheres from the Steamworks lol.
Maybe they'll have some associated tickets or whatever for something cool, but I doubt it.
Tigrex, a nice returning monster but in my opinion not a very fun one. That one arena quest where you have to fight a Tigrex and a Brute Tigrex together? I was amazed Capcom managed to top the cancer that was the Diablos + Black Diablos arena duo, lol.
Never again! No!
Just because a monster is a classic doesn't make it good.
This has been an issue of mine with the event quests for most and least popular monsters. The popular monsters are fun to fight, hence why they're popular, but the rewards are also great. Lots of decorations from the Greatest Jagras and lots of coal from Zinogre.
The problem is the least popular monsters suck ass to fight, and the rewards are never a good enough incentive to bother. The Lavasioth quest doesn't give nearly as many decorations as great Jagras and its a longer and more annoying fight. Same for Brute Tigrex. Its such an annoying monster to fight and the small amount of armor spheres you get is an immediate turnoff. Which is a shame, cuz I'm always upgrading new sets so I could use the spheres. But like you said, you can literally use the Zinogre quest to grind coal and just use the Steamworks for a much better output.
