Help me Learn Power axe playstyle
Any Switch axe mains out there with tips on how to effectively use the Power Axe playstyle for solo?

I'm softening (what I believe is) the trip-part of the monster. I'm keeping my Powered axe up and trying to end wildswing spam with an overhead slam as they get up, yet - I'm unable to continously trip monsters and find my clear-time lacking as a result.

Any tips, videos or general comments greatly appreciated.

so the hardest part about this playstyle is needing to perfectly control your damage output. Because afaik, if you go over the trip damage limit while they're already tripped or otherwise immune to being tripped, it resets the trip damage counter and increases the threshold as if you did successfully trip them.

Morph. Sweep. (daMaGe)
Fade. Slash. (Back to power axe mode for some trips)
Rolling. Morph. (MoniLitY)

Even when going full axe mode, it still pays to swap to sword mode quite frequently.

You really cant dedicate just axe form when playing SA. You need to really utilize your sword form and its phial.

listen to him, he has a Switch axe for a avatar and it has been like that for atleast 2 years.

all jokes aside indeed using sword mode and its phials is important. you start getting some extra damage once the sword is charged all the way up from the phial procs. not to mention getting in for that nice phial finisher just feels so satisfying. i like to rocksteady with the axe simply to latch on and stay on things that are on the move. i've caught things on a flyby and they happily took me to the room they were going to so i could continue to pound on them.

dont do it to an Uragaan on the move though...
