Fatalis Phase 3 360 attack
i have been consistently getting to phase 3, and the only thing that stops me is that when fatalis turn his head back and doing the 360 breath attack, it always hit me. any tips on this particular move set?

thnks

You can avoid this move by hugging his chest. Stay as close to his chest as possible. If you can't reach his chest then your best option is to use the superman dive.
When Fatalis lifts his head backwards towards either his left or right flank then he's getting ready to do the 360 breath attack. Superman dive as soon as the animation starts to avoid it.
Make sure to pay close attention to where his head is as sometimes you have to dive sooner rather then later depending on the direction of the attack.

You can also use the farcaster if the situation is really dire to avoid a kart.

I hope this helps! :mhwgood:

lbg sticky 3, evade extender 3 , tool specialist 2, sheth 2, eat for moxie, I used coral orchester first, because I only used max potions, if you waste moxie, you can later eat for it again, for the end I switched to vitaly wasp, after I beat fatalis several times I took 2 armor pieces and extended my set to tool specialist 5 :) now I can kill him solo or duo with no deaths or sometimes I die to bad luck :D

I really think that this is a cheesy attack, nothing can turn its head like that I know this is a video game but it is turning it's head like the exorcist. I mean you can be standing right underneath it where it should not be able to hit you but it does so yeah, little over the top on this one.
claw to him or superman dive, either one works
being under his chest only works if you are already on the opposite side of him when he starts the attack btw

I really don't get this? It's a fictional dragon, why shouldn't it be able to turn its head like that? Also aren't some long necked birds capable of doing exactly that?

I actually went to google to find some.

Look at those Flamingos. They're grooming the area directly behind their necks, their necks look pretty freaky. Fatalis doesn't look bad at all compared to that.
Also, if you got Felyne Weakener skill (from eating pre-quest), eat it. The damage multiplier of Fatalis can be really random, and if you're unlucky most of its 3rd phase attack can and will once shot you.

Eating Felyne Weakener can reduce the damage multiplier of Fatalis (assuming if it works) and will save you and your teammates from some one shots

If I remember correctly weakener doesn't work against elder dragons, so it seems highly unlikely that it will apply to a monster that's a few tiers above them.

It really is a cheap attack as it makes no sense and it should not be able to do that.
Same with other attacks like when it does the flamethrower attack that hits it's own belly, like hello? That should cause some damage to it lol.

I hate to say it but overall the monster is kinda cheap, Alatreon still a much better fight.

I found the 360 breath to be annoying too. I guess Divine Blessing 5, Evade Window helps quite a bit. I don't use Rocksteady cause I use LBG. Instead, I use Evasion Mantle and it helps.
If you're close, stay underneath him.

If you're medium distance, Superman dive.

If you're really far away, you can out range it.

I think it's pretty important to add that you can't be on the side where the head is.

Huh, might have been coincidence then. I once ate weakener and Fatalis stop one shotting me during its third phase with head broken once. Might need a few more match of testing to see if it's RNG or nah
