Safi is easier to kill than Fatalis and Safis gear can be useful for killing Fatalis.
What about people who haven't reached Fatalis yet? Or people who want to try different armour and skill sets? The Safi set is incredible for elemental weapons. And while the Fatalis set is game-breakingly awesome, it's not like the armour of the next monster you defeat immediately makes your current armour obsolete and useless. You upgrade when you want to, or when it's right for your play style.
And yes, as Nerevar said, you have to complete the siege by killing Safi, to get material drops and the carve.

same strategy as for behemoth
it is pretty ridiculous that fatalis gear isn't locked behind the first kill.
You clearly ignored about 90% of my post and just started typing words, but alright.
Hey everyone - attention please - leapfrog all other monster fights and jump straight to Fatalis. Don't bother with anything else.
Oh and it's definitely easier than Safi. Definitely.
Cuz this guy said so.
