Alatreon Horn Breaking
Does anyone know how to be in position to break Alatreon's horn every time? For me, its sometimes hard to line him up against the wall and flinch shot him towards the wall. I'm always just not getting it successfully or even if I do, I just always end up dying to the elemental check blast he does even when I eat the jerky.

Actually, Alatreon stage is designed that wall crush is not used. Except the start of the quest, there is almost no chance to use this technique.
Find pattern that you can target head easily. Usually, AOE lightening attacks gives a little chance to hit the head if you respond fast enough. And both fire and ice breath vertically shooting toward ground are good chance to use claw action and stack head damage. Keep your distance to Alatreon and do not try running away too much. Required damage is really low. Just keep focus on catching delay of attack motions.

Don't rely on wallbangs to break his horns.

I find this to be a very strange question to be asking at this time. He moves next to wall, you slap him till he faces it, then you bash him into said wall, just like any other monster you surely have done countless times by now?

The problem is, I actually haven't. I've never had to do wall slams for any monster until now, or at least thats what a lot of yotube videos and guides are saying to my own knowledge. So I've never practiced at all. I did a few times now with other monsters today and was successful but can't get it consistently with this guy

So what do I do? How do I break his horns? I use a sword and shield so I can't exactly hit his head. The clutch claw is an option but a lot of guides are telling me not to do it for some reason. But I did try it and still it hasn't really worked. I know for sure I have the right element and gear, because I have met the dps check before
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Alright, I'll try that, ty

And horn is only broken at the dragon state phase because it is used as switch of stopping tool for phase change of Alatreon. Play normal in fire or ice phase but keep focus on head at the dragon phase. Long size weapons like greatsword, longsword, etc are useful to cut the horn easily. So if you have trouble with short weapons, changing weapons can be helpful.

Okay for sure. If still have trouble, I'll be sure to change up my weapons

There are actually really good opportunities to hit the head. Best example I can give is with the attack where he jumps back and sends a wave of consecutive horizontal lightning lines at you. Avoid the first one and start a perfect rush; he always has a recovery roar that keeps his head low and still for an entire perfect rush. Just in general you have to watch for those moments when his head is in reach (forward ice breath attack, fire rings after dodging the first one, etc) and not moving around and try and sneak a perfect rush or shield dunk in, but it's very doable with SnS.

Oh, I should clarify that I misread the title and assumed you were talking about Fatalis. Yeah, wall banging Alatreon is a bit of a nuisance since only the small rocks in certain parts of his arena are considered walls

Yeah exactly. I've tried baiting him over by standing near the wall but I can't always get him to face it for me to then clutch claw onto him, somehow not get knocked down, and manage to fling him directly into that small wall. It seems like its way too hard to actually pull off until you're just a god at the game.

you new to ala? He doesnt line up every time... theres only certain parts that he can hit and even if you spin him to all 4 slots if he doesnt line up he misses it... so get off your high horse thinking youre clever ds

Feel free to read through the entire thread next time.

Personally aside from the opening I find wall bashes to be a waste as it could better be used when he's flying to ground him and hit important parts rather than his back legs
