I think i'm done with Monster Hunter.
Alatreon and Fatalis have sucked the joy out of the game for me. I've been playing since freedom unite and have played every game since then. Yeah base world did get a little easy, but I think the difficulty in iceborne was perfect, especially with rajang and raging brachy. I've had a play style that I've used since FU, i'm a gunlance main, and I enjoy a defensive play style. And that was fine in every game, it was fine in world and iceborne. But then came Aalatreon, who required that you make elemental dps checks or you die, as we know gunlance isn't the best at elemental but its doable. I had to abandon how I have played for years to have a chance at beating a single monster. The came fatalis, fatalis is challenging, we know this. I was excited, hoping capcom had learned from the feedback they got from alatreon. Cut to 50+ attempts later and I no longer fail to carting, I fail to running out of time, every time. It's disheartening. I just can't break the head and have enough dps to kill fatalis. I installed an overlay to see how close I was getting, 10%, I could only ever get fatalis to 10%. The fight is not fun, its an annoying, aggravating slog, this is not the monster hunter I want to remember, and if this is capcom's new design philosophy, I think I'm getting off the train now, I want to remember Monster Hunter positively. It was fun while it lasted, thanks for the years of memories and cooperation with friends.

You know...I thought I was the only one that decided that Monster Hunter World is the last Monster Hunter game for me. I feel good knowing that there are others out there that think the way I do. I'll be sticking with the Older Monster Hunter games because Monster Hunter has just changed too much for me. It's becoming too mainstream, has lost a lot of the charm the older games have for me. That and I have been playing an awful lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 lately. Finished Arthur's story and now I'm playing as John Marston. That basically has made leaving Monster Hunter behind a lot easier. Sorry to say this but I just don't find Monster Hunter fun anymore.

You can't complain about mh becoming too mainstream and then mention one of THE mainstream of mainstream games studios, rockstar. Lmao

Oh indeed I can talk about Monster Hunter being too mainstream as detrimental to my enjoyment and prefer the Red Dead Redemption series because Red Dead redemption started out mainstream from the get go with the first one. Monster Hunter wasn't mainstream at all until Monster Hunter World. I am done with the series, that's all, end of story. Like I said, I don't find Monster Hunter fun anymore because it's had too much plastic surgery allegorically speaking. I don't want it anymore because it's not the Monster Hunter I fell in love with, it's a cheap hooker now. I knew this the moment they dragged low brow, low class freak shows like WWE Wrestling talent into the marketing for the game. I'm just done and there's not a thing anyone can do to change my mind. I'm going to go where the grass is greener to me.

I think these monsters are just a product of us saying the game is too easy... Now I don't know why auto kill trap party wipe moves is what they got from that... but maybe they are just being dense in hope that we act our frustrations out by buying the next game in the series...

Seems to work a lot more than people like to admit.

I think the only reason why any of it aggravates me so much is because most of the people I made a bond with were on ps4... Heck, the people I talk to on discord that vocalize how much they still like playing are PS4 people. So now when I have to fight those team oriented monsters I just find a day when I'm free, and flare it up until it works out... It doesn't feel the same when you have like 20-70 seconds to be excited with the people who helped you. And if the new monster hunter doesn't come bundled with voice chat, Nintendudes are going to have a worse time with it.

I still feel like putting the next mh game on switch is a huge, huge step back. I mean paying for the switch's online monthly...egh.

That being said these bosses...really aren't that "unfair" or "broken." Alatreon's dps check is the only thing I can think of that's mildly frustrating, but now that I know how to counter it the fight is way, way easier.
Ancient Leshen's vine trap is garbage solo.... I mean you can tank it now, but before... WOOOOOW

Other than that. in a party yes the game is pretty relatable to the other games. And the need to be in the party because of hp scaling is unnecessary. I just wish there was an arch tempered mode where everything is arch tempered. I love pretty much every elder that came from it. Teostra was a little annoying because of getting cornered. Michael Bay needs his script back...
Hey mate, what's your build? I literally just slapped together spare parts and decos when trying to kill alatreon with as many weapon types as possible (12/14, idk how you bowgun mains do it), and had a fun time with it. It was surprising to see that a beating stick GL style of play was not the worst, so perhaps you might need to look into reevaluating your strats when approaching him and Fatalis? High HP monsters are not kind to weapons that have fixed damage attacks, so of course a certain attack strategy employed by most gunlances might put you at a disadvantage. I know you can do it if you keep on trying mate!

bye
I'm with you. Forced, or should I say strongly encouraged, multiplayer sucks. 30mins for 66k hp really? Then having to deal with an increasingly toxic community (probably because of the popularity of the franchise ere go attracting low lifes who think they're hardcore and quit after 1 or 2 carts.)

I'd rather go solo, like how I've been going since day one. But I don't like the direction this game is going with Capcom focusing on multiplayer and having to rely on random people who don't take the time to practice and the occasional terrible person.

I took a long break before Fatalis and found much more fulfillment playing single player games. I had a lot of fun with this game but it's becoming something I'm growing to abhor due to the reasons stated above.

You can literally solo fatalis. You just have to play very, very well. It even scales lmao

You're probably right. I just feel like they're steering solo players to go multi with the increasingly difficult hunt conditions. I just wished they gave us a little more time, maybe 5-10 mins more. I hate feeling rushed when the fight's margin for error is so thin as it is. But I'm just not into this as much anymore for a lot of reasons, so that's probably the heart of my issue.

Okay, well old fatalis back when the monster was first introduced would fail if you missed literally 1 cannonball. Monster hunter's requirements for soloing the quote on quote "online bosses" are usually pretty steep - you're either doing the damage for four people or you have to deal with a number of mechanics on your own that are built for a team of 4. It's been like that in every monster hunter game, it's why I say it's laughable when people say the game "isn't very co-op centric" because capcom repeatedly says over and over again the best way to play the game is co-op.

Too bad OP, it's objectively good that the fight forces you to get out of your comfort zone. That's an example of a good design and gameplay variety. You seem to be the type of person who just want the same thing every sequel, which is fine but this is clearly not what they're going for.
bruh this is literray a free title update. nobody forces you to play it.
Me too bro. I am just waiting for Hallowen Festival farm its VIP tickets and I am done with the game and remove it from my HDD. Fatalis was the last straw.

The only fights that require or encourage multiplayer are Safi, Kulve and Behemoth, which funnily enough no-one complained about when they came out so I find it rather odd that this is used as an argument for both Alatreon and Fatalis now since they both have solo scaling.

Yeah I actually agree with you. Nothing wrong with wanting to go co-op. It's just that I prefer not to. And if that's not the optimum way to play anymore (if it ever was at all) maybe this isn't the game for me after all. Only took me 800 hours to realize lol.

I think that's why I've been losing interest fast lately, cause I feel it now more than ever. How capcom is making it harder for solo players, with more incentive to play with a team, as you said "co-op centric." I think we can all agree it is a lot easier and admittedly fun if you land a good team and wreck the target monster than you working overdrive just to hang in the fight. Unfortunately, I just don't find either fulfilling.

This was the last straw. The fight is insanely hard (and tbh fun) but the time limit is too short and it just sucks the joy out of it when you're constantly stressing and being distracted by time left prompts. Just takes the flow out of the fight for me.

Had some great times with the game. But the game just rings hollow for me now. Feel like I've done everything I wanted to. More updates or future titles do not excite me in the slightest. And I've grown to want more out of my gaming experiences than fighting the same monsters again and again, shallow plots and uninteresting characters, whilst having to keep up with crazy new ones. It's exhausting. I'll attempt to defeat that big bastard tomorrow one last time but either way I'll be alright knowing that I'm more than ready to move on from Monster Hunter.
