Best greatsword for each element?

So, I just unlocked Master Rank and by now I have the Gnashing Flammenzhan for fire (wil upgrade to Lohenzhan when able), Jagras Hacker III for water (will upgrade to Jagras Deathclaw II when able), Lightning Punisher for thunder (will upgrade to Severing Bolt when able), Giant Jawblade II for ice (will upgrade to Winged Seraphyd when able), and Hazad ♥♥♥ for dragon (will upgrade to Don Monstro).



I heard that Wyvern Ignition "Impact" is the best for fire for example, yet I cant get it until the event appears again, so, are this the best without counting the event ones? and counting with the event ones, whats the best for each element?

I'll just say it before anyone else does, if you're looking for the best greatsword then just ignore the element part and look for pure raw damage which is why defender or impact are the best greatswords pre Iceborne

wyvern ignition wasn't the best for fire.... it was the best for nonelemental back when that was the meta pre-iceborne. Gr8swords aren't gr8 for element to begin with : almost all moves scale much harder from raw.

That said, frostcraft comes with elemental crit, and I've used ice velkana gr8sword with this set with much successl on rajang. Alatreon gr8sword has very good elemental values and sharpness for dragon. The rajang variant's gr8sword (I forgot its name) has amazing raw and decent thunder element. Fire and Water I dunno

Yeah, I heard that too, but tbh it seems not fun to me so I just prefer to get a greatsword for each element xD

Ok, so by now 2 independet tree weapons are better than the usual trees ones, and my ice weapon will do well.

From what I've heard the Frostcraft set bonus is like the only way to really get use out of elemental GS and you don't have that set so I wouldn't bother. And I don't even know how significant the element is there.

In general just don't bother with elemental GS unless you really, really REALLY just want to use them for the sake of it.

Mmm, I have no idea. Greatsword is the best with no element. Overall you'd be better of with raw.
But have fun with elements if you want, that's the fun of the game.

Greatsword doesn't scale that well with element so picking the best one is easy, just craft the highest damaging GS you can manage right now and thats it. if you fight and kill a new monster check its tree and see if it has a GS you can craft and if the damage is higher ( or if it has better sharpness ) then craft it

Right now it is, However you should get Sife first or raging.

I get that, I hate when the meta is shoved at people and tbh I wish there was multiple meta for different play styles not just max damage for every weapon type

MHW Mata is what kills fast, you dont have to do it tho. That half the fun

velkhana set plus any gs that is a weakness to the monster youre facing (mainly ice).
uptime without sharpening? alatreon's.
Mr. Torgue special? Lightbreak GS (raging brachy)

use razor sharp and protective polish for maximum uptime.
