Is it ok and do you guys know any good ones?

HunterPie is the best one.

Please don't be an @$$ and post the party's damage in chat just to brag.

You can also disable monster health bars, etc if you only are interested in DPS. Please keep this in mind when using it online as many players consider it cheating.

I don't care so long as you don't bring it up during the hunt I.E spamming the chat at the end of the hunt with each persons % damage, etc. Use it for self improvement or use it to mutter under your breath at how bad the guy with 5% damage dealt is at the game by all means, though.

General rule of thumb there with mods, they're typically fine if they're not altering, effecting or harming another players experience in any way.

I have no recommendations for DPS meters for you though, I don't use mods.

Mostly want it for self improvement and see how im actually doing during a solo or mp hunt.

Even back in wow that a dps meter was something usual to use I never spammed party members
even if they were salty or toxic (if you played mmos you know what i mean)

Will check hunterpie out thank you.
As I said want it for self improvement and I'm a mediocre player so probably I wouldn't be able to be an a*s :p

People consider that you have to get banned when cheating in exclusive single player games for some reason as well. Although I mostly play with friends that aren't so radical and stuck up so im lucky (but yeah hp bar kinda takes away a bit from the game).

Thank both of you for the answers.
Mostly expecting weird sweaties to come and flame so I was a bit afraid to post that question.

So long as you disable the pathetic health bar that only casuals in need of a handicap use there is no issue. The health bar shows you way more information than just the monsters health, things which you in no-way know if you're playing legitimately, so it's a hard cheat. If at any point you say the percentage of the monsters health in a fight the only people you're helping are other casuals while only embarrassing yourself to the real players.

There, now all the "flame" is outta the way. No more need to worry. You're welcome. :steamhappy:

sure it's fine just don't be a ♥♥♥♥ about it.

It's fine if you don't show it to others unless they ask.. I guess.

Checked out HunterPie. Looks really good, hope the customization options are good as well.

its fine, just dont be a jerk and preferrably use it to only tell how much damage has been dealt by each person keeping that information to yourself unless someone asks.

What was the point of this post then? It sounds like you were directly looking for this kind of feedback. You can play however you want, just don't ruin others hunts by announcing anything regarding this casual handicap or that makes you an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and only other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like being around ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Capeesh?

The DPS meter itself isn't a cheat. The game itself even tells you who might have the highest DPS sometimes and how much damage they did, so how can this be cheating? In fact, it can help point out others who are cheating. It's the overlay ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's coupled with every DPS meter that's a hard cheat, yet that gimpish crap can be disabled.

Anyone interested in any information this potential cheat offers can always download it themself. There is literally no reason to ever post DPS numbers (unless you're calling out a cheater) or anything regarding the monster being fought.

Don't kid yourself, using a DPS meter when it is not built into the game, that's a cheat. Make all the excuses you like.

The award for most damage is fine, as it does not reveal the other hunters' damage to compare it with.

yeah but it still does point out that this person did something like 70% of the damage or whatever the threshold was. basically still doing the whole "i'm l33t DPS bois u suk" for the individual.

myself, i dont mod the game anymore. atleast until im sure mods can stay updated, and wont result in soft bans happening (basically a disconnect trigger from their garbage anti-cheat.).

end of the day though, i dont care how anyone plays the game, so long as they aren't a ♥♥♥♥ about it in game or here.

Do whatever makes the game more enjoyable for you, as long as it doesn't ruin others experience. You get the idea. In general, for most things, if ever, no ban will follow.

The ability to tell when someone is using a DPS boosting cheat is a boon IMO. Yes, it's ridiculous these scrubs think what they are doing is any less of a cheat than 1-shotting the monster, but they must think they're being sly and making up for their own lack of skill. Either way, I don't wanna play with this kind of trash. I don't use a DPS meter myself, but I fully support anyone using it for the DPS meter if only for the above reason or, as the OP had initially stated, to tell how much damage they are contributing to the fight and whether or not they could be doing better.

Seeing how different skills work with their preferred playstyle in regards to their DPS output and fine-tuning their builds to work with them rather than being cookie-cutters and using whatever "meta" crap is floating around at the time.
