Are we supposed to solo Barioth?

It is meant to be a wall though, to force you to play like you're supposed to, to be effective.

Barioth's lethality is due to his speed and chain attacks. All of this is reliant on his wing spikes. Simply break both wings and he will stumble after every leap, giving you a free opening. His hipcheck will also give you a free opening if you break his wings.

Once you break his tusks as well, the tornadoes he shoots will disappear faster.

With Barioth, it's important to not try and chase him around too much. Evade his attacks, then counter, otherwise you won't be getting much done.

The best way to beat the Supersonic Sabertooth is to force it to slow down. Barioth's difficulty is very loaded onto the early stage of the fight. Break its wing-arms and it will begin to slip. Break its head, and it may not be able to fire its projectile. Cut the tail to lower its range. But how do you get this opening? Easy. Trap it. It's easy to bait Barioth into pouncing straight into a trap. Once it's there, concentrate on its claws. This will create more openings, allowing you to break more parts, which creates more openings. There is no downside to stunning it with a trap other than reduced stun time for future traps. (EDIT: It may or may not cost you a bit of pride as well. It did cost a little of it in my case.)

Hehe, just like how Anjanath is the first wall in base game World for newbies, Barioth is the wall in Iceborne.It's my first wall in Iceborne too.Learn its moves and how to avoid/counter it. Once you get used to it, its pretty easy to smack that barioth's ass.One tip, if you see the Eye icon on the monster is yellow, try to mount that ass and slingshot him to the wall.Huge damage to most monsters in MH.

No one has asked you what weapon you're trying to fight him with, which is what I'm most curious about. Barioth is incredibly predictable when you've learned his move patterns. His attacks aren't random, they're actually a long chain of things he does before providing a solid opening. Also, if you're not flinching his head into a wall, you're already doing it wrong. He's one of the easiest monsters to flinch.

break the wings, thats how it was in tri, and here too, break the wings and you get an extra 3 seconds to do what you need to, pop potion, get a couple hits in, whatever.

Bring traps. Lots of them. Like... 4 traps.
Wallslam him first. Tenderize a front paw. Wallslam a second time if you can. Focus on the tenderized paw until it breaks. Do the same with the second paw.
Only then go for head or tail (head is easier to hit, but it takes more damage on the tail).
Be patient and play smart: Barioth is a challenge at first.
All in all, after breaking 3 parts, he should be at death doors.
Capture it and party hard.
