I don't know if that gives you Earplugs 5 just from that, though. You might need additional Earplug jewels.
Really don't think any other monsters give you meaningful Earplugs armour skills up until Bazelgeuse comes along, anyway. Far as I remember, you can fight Bazelgeuse the moment you open up High Rank Expeditions, but you'll have a tough time killing him with your Zorah Magdaros armour, I think.
He's also worth killing as soon as you can anyway so you can make the Power and Armour Talons (they stack with your Power and Armour charm, as well!)
Thanks :)
Watch a video and learn what these tells are. The i frames are at the very beginning of the dodge so once you know what to look for dodging roars becomes very easy.
Once you get good at dodging roars they become free openings for damage and you'll save some slots by not running earplugs.
It's really not that hard to do once you learn to recognise the roar animations.
I find with certain weapons (hunting horn or gunlance, for example) against certain monsters, earplugs IS a DPS gain since you can just ignore the roars and go for meatier swings during that animation.
