Some weapons are better suited for breaking parts due to their hitzone values. The moveset of a weapon is also worth considering. Bows in general aren't that good at breaking parts, but partbreaker will still apply to them.
If you want to break parts effectively then you can opt to use the hammer, but keep in mind that you can't break tails with it. The GS and SA are also really effective at breaking parts.
It does depend on how experienced you are with any given weapon and breaking parts can be difficult to pull off if you haven't mastered a weapons moveset yet.
Well, whichever hammers have the most raw dmg and/or good sharpness to go with it.
Usually you want to take fortify to the guiding lands, as soon as you arrive put on your safijiva set with fortify and a heavy bowgun with wyvernheart( the one that gives you the special ammo of a minigun) cart yourself and then change to whatever weapon and set that also has fortify so it stays active. If you want to farm for materials bring only one point of GEOLOGIST, it will allow you to pick almost every shiny in the guiding lands twice.
If you only want to increase your MR there is no point in breaking monster parts, breaking parts in the guiding lands only increases the level of each area and only if you broke parts of any monster in that area.
The phials from saed and the savage axe swings both hit large areas and can damage multiple parts at the same time.
It's a rare day I finish a charge blade hunt without breaking everything that can break. I only need to go out of my way to cut the tail, everything else just breaks naturally during the hunt.
