Meta before Fatalis
hey guys, last time i played was when alatreon came out, farmed him to get all the weapons i wanted and stopped playing, i saw the frostfang barioth came out and i wanted to know something...

his armor is the new meta? i play mainly LS, Hammer and bow.

i'm not in the mood to farm frostfang, so can i use blast/safi...brachy weapons/armor and alatreon weapons too or punishin draw is way better?

i really don't wanna farm, just playing online and helping people till fatalis is released.

Only Iai LS build, GS Valkana Build, Sticky stun gun and Hammer Build. So... Yes, his armor is the new meta.

i play a lot of switch axe too, but from what i saw it's 1 piece right? so i guess i can farm quickly.

No, his armor isn't meta. The meta is still your standard Teostra + Raging Brach Master's Touch set for raw, and Kjarr weapons + Safi armor for elemental.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The Frostfang Barioth weapons are certainly useful, but theyre not meta sets. They are a great choice if you haven't beaten Alatreon yet and do not have the Kjarr ice weapons, but other then that they I'm not sure what they can be used for. The Kjarr weapons are a better choice overall.

The armor set can be useful for hammer builds and it's worth checking out since youre using the hammer. It's not a meta set, but it is certainly useful and I think that you can definetly create some really effective builds with it. Meta isn't everything and diversifying your builds is always a good idea in my opinion.

He's not that difficult to defeat and you can get the armor and a weapon relatively quickly. The materials that you need can be easily obtained if you break the correct parts during the fight.

I hope this answers your question! :mhwgood:

thanks mate, i'm still kinda burned out of the game, but i will try to farm him for my ls build, just to try, i'm pretty sure that fatalis is gonna shake the meta again ( i hope haha ) so no reason to farm like a maniac for now..

thanks again for the feedback.

I don't think that the meta is going to change all that much even with Fatalis. The game has hit it's power ceiling. The armor and weapons might be better then certain specialised builds, but I don't think we will see any drastic changes.
This is just my personal prediction though and I might be wrong of course!

We'll know in a couple of days!

with the changes to tenderizing, WEX is basically gonna become THE crit skill to run with everything. otherwise yeah not much will change. we'll get fatalis weapons and armor, and AT velk armor which might improve Draw attack builds, no idea what fatty armor will give us but if its anything like in past games it'll have lots of sharpness and raw focused armor set bonuses. but the possibilities are endless for what they could've decided.

Definetly! AT Velkhana will probably be a game changer for my frostcraft GS build, but that will depend on it's set bonus.

Due to the power creep I don't think that the Fatalis armor and weapons are going to drastically change the meta. I remember the old Fatalis armor and weapons, but Capcom has been known to drastically alter sets and weapons between games so anything is possible. There's definetly a limit to how much they can improve upon the current meta before the game simply becomes too easy due to hunters being too strong.

I can't wait for Fatalis and I hope that he can be done solo. I dislike siege fights in general.
I hope that they'll give him an amazing fight in Monster Hunter World and that they'll give him the same amount of attention that they gave to Alatreon.
I loved everything about the Alatreon fight except for the DPS check.
