However, because iceborne is out, high rank deco farm isn't really done anymore : people generally just go straight into iceborne. Therefore, unless you really have no use for the extra skills the alpha set gives you, might be good to use alpha sets till you hit iceborne content where you have easy access to most of the decos that were available in high rank as well as most of the more common tier 4 decos (highest rank decos).
Appearance wise you can use layered armor.
Every other piece is very underwhelming. Windprooof is only useful against certain monsters and defense boost is mega weak (divine blessing is mathematically superior, and only needs 4 levels to hit max)
You can use the legiana beta helmet and alpha chest to get the set bonus and max level divine blessing.
Coil and legs can be anything else you want.
eventually i'd replace the Zorah spine but for now fortify is useful for a raw damage set. the luck from the legiana set bonus is also nice. all round decent early set but i'd consider those changes i mentioned.
the math for what defense does for you in damage mitigation, you never want to eat for defense large, and you never really want to run defense skill unless your going for the elemental res boost for going up to lvl 3 or 6, and thats for end game sets basically.
Just remember to always build a set with Health Boost +3 and you'll be good to go.
@Edit: mind to say where in the story you're? i can try to make a couple sets with my old HR armor (deleted the loadouts since i begun MR) and post it here. I'm a SA exclusive user. :)
once you've gotten to the point of fighting the elder dragons though, you'll probably use some chunks of teostra and some chunks of either nerg or Vaal pending on what kind of healing you want out of your weapon or armor. they also have some decent damage skills between them. i'd say till that point no harm in focusing on survival and flinch/stun resistant armor pieces.
one real way to stay prepped and ready for master rank would be to keep your charms upgraded. find skills you find useful and keep maxing out the charms for those skills.
