Faints and Quest Fail Question
Hi all, my question revolves around how other players faints contribute to your quest failure. If a quest has, say 3 faints allowed, is that "total" faints for the entire group, or is each individual person allowed 3 faints before failure?

Thanks!

Total.

The faint count is always total faints, be it 1, 3, 5 or, for those like four quests that have it, 9

Ok, thank you for the clarification. Man, I feel like such a jerk now for the times I failed other peoples SOS missions I joined.

naw, we expect people to randomly cart in SOS at this point sadly. What you can do is unlock the feline safeguard food option and bring another life in with you to compensate for when you mess up.

If you really want to be considerate, try soloing a monster first before farming it in SoS. That way at least you'll have a lower chance of dying to very predictable moves ;p

Fantastic advice for all. Well put and thank you again.
You'll see once you start fighting Alatreon.

Also worth noting that since it's total faints that it is indeed possible to fail a quest by 3 or more players fainting at the same time to one attack.

It's kind of like a balancing mechanism. More players can make a monster easier, due to having another person to draw the monster's attention, however, you share lives, so mistakes still hit just as hard.

It's also worth noting that the food skills Insurance and Safeguard give you 1 extra faint each, the max upgraded Vigorwasp will revive you once without costing a faint and the armour skill Guts and Moxie food skill will prevent you fainting 1 time each by leaving you at 1hp insteaed of 0hp.

You have to be above 64hp for guts to trigger and you must be taken down to 0 in 1 hit.

So you can get extra chances if you want them.

Without felyne insurance or similar things, as soon as the 3rd person faints, it's quest failed, regardless of who fainted.

Why I can't stand playing multiplayer. I wish they would make it so that at least you just don't respawn if the faints are used up, so you can't fail the quest if you never faint, even if the other players burn through the faints.
