New Weapon Thought
This is not to say that MHW isn't already well equipped with many valid weapon options but is rather just a thought I had about a possible new weapon type to go along with the others already in game.

I don't have any fancy name for it but it would essentially just be an oversized boomerang (Great Boomerang, if you will). Would be nice if such a weapon granted the user good mobility when the boomerang was out of the player's hands and in the air and also act somewhat like a greatsword while the player was carrying it. (Again, it's quite a large boomerang in my mind).

As for special mechanics I just have a few ideas. The boomerangs could come in a blunt or sharp variant (just depending on the monster/tree). Could also make it where players decide when to strike with blunt or sharp damage as well. For instance, if there was a way to change it between the two options, the change would depict what moves were allowed. Say that you activate severing... you would likely not be throwing it since most people don't like to attempt catching giant boomerangs with (insert sharp objects here) sticking out of it. However, in this mode you would have somewhat of a greatsword but with a different moveset. As for the blunt variant, it could allow for some ranged fighting (actually utilizing the typical use of a boomerang) while granting the player the ability to move in for some decent blunt damage as well.

Can't emphasize this enough: this is literally just a thought, don't take it too seriously.

I'd like to see a weapons that works similar to the chain blades in dauntless: something that will pull you in and push you away from the target, even if that's another player.

Wasn't that a weapon in one or two previous titles too?

Even tho the shape is weird - isn't wrath and rancor (when you think...look into it) sorta like a tonfa? I always thought they were .. I think there was one in 4..or generations..i saw it somewhere but it was a dual blade if memory serves not it's own weapon.

Well we're definitely NOT getting any new weapon types in Iceborne but if you asked me what kind of weapon type I'd like to see in MH6 ... either combat gloves and boots so you could slay all the monsters with kicks and punches or some sort of a torpedo hammer/axe that would come alongside reintroduction and a full overhaul of underwater combat.

I once thought about how it would be awesome to facepunch a Diablos, then breaking its horn with a downward heel kick :B1:

Seems like it was, but only on one specific Japanese-only title. Maybe one day they will make a comeback.

I thought it was obvious that he was refering to Frontier and assumed you meant a main line game that would have tonfas.

Frontier is a very specific game, man.

Everyone here talking Tonfas, but no one acknowledging Magnet Spikes smh

Lol seeing a monk class of sorts would definitely be very interesting. JPM, is the Magnet Spikes a cresent shape with handles on the inside for the character to hold it? I feel like I've seen that before but on another Monster Hunter game.
