Why can't you get layered armor options at low level?
I'm tired of looking like a dressed up halloween freak. I want some better options. I'm only HR29 and there are no options. Everything I read online says I have to reach master rank? This is dumb. There should be options early in the game.

Go download the transmog mod.
Problem solved.

There are some HR options, mostly from event quests/arch Tempered Monsters.

You won't get banned, but neither will you be considered a Fashion Hunter by using this mod, so the point of is kinda lost. As for getting layered armors, you need to obtain event tickets and such. You'll only be able to apply the layered armor to HR and above armors. The link below might help.

Well they kinda decided it was a good idea to turn layered armor options into an endgame grind otherwise, there'd be little to no reason to farm the Guiding Lands. In MHGU, transmog options were also locked behind G-Rank (The equivalent of Master Rank) & its even more grindy & there ain't no mods to save u there.

No anti cheat system, no one has been banned for using mods, not one person.
Go to nexus and search for transmog, enjoy it.

There are a bunch of event quests in high rank that give materials to make low/high rank layered armour that appear on rotations or when a festival event is active. Check the event schedule to see what's available.

To make high rank/low rank layered armour that aren't from events, you need to reach endgame in Iceborne.

For whatever reason they considered Layered armour to be less important and more as a high tier reward than anything. If I remember right they didn't even start adding it until late-ish into vanilla Worlds lifespan, mostly from seasonal events and Arch Tempered stuff. Hopefully they change it up in the next game though, now they've learned how much people actually value it.

I would make it so it unlocks for purchase once you reach maximum research for each monster, myself. Maximise that LR research for Rathalos, now you can make his LR layered set. Maximise the HR research, that's his HR set available to make - you get the idea.

Or I'd make them have a super rare carve / reward, akin to a gem but maybe slightly rarer (but not like, bullsh*t tier rarity) that when delivered to the smithy gives you the associated monsters layered set. More excuses to grind is never a bad thing, at least to me.

Layered armor was available from the start with the pre-order bonus, but I believe we could only unlock layered armor after that from events that gradually trickled in. I think it was not long before Iceborne that we received the ability to save layered armor to our individual sets where as before we had to make changes on the fly.

you can get Geralt or Ciri by getting a Mutagen at the Elder Melder (even if you didn't do the quest, at least it was like that for me)
or Bayek at the event quest for it if its still up (fairly easy)
Lunastra quest line will let you get the brigade set with some additional work

there are plenty of LR/HR layered armor if you haven't unlock them it's either you're too lazy to do the quests or you are too weak to do the quests

It's the mmo mindset where end game has to unlock all of the awesome features, and nothing is handed out for the leveling process. I've never understood it but it's very popular.

I've been using transmog mod for at least a year. Capcom don't care.

If you enjoy pain, and you get strong enough gear, Drachen Layered Armor looks really good. That being said... It's the reward for defeating Extreme Behemoth, who is both currently unavailable (I think) and ridiculously difficult, even with Master Rank gear.
