Question: Do you need Iceborne to ride tailraiders?

I'm not sure if this feature is exclusive to the Iceborne expansion or if it was just an update to MHW when Iceborne released. My friend owns MHW, but not Iceborne, and I'd like to know if they can ride tailraiders without Iceborne.

Tailraiders can now be mounted after establishing good relations with the Lynian tribes. Tailraider monsters will automatically move to areas when directed.

This bit of text has the iceborne logo next to it in the patch notes, denoting it as an iceborne feature. So to answer your question, yes. You need iceborne for it.

If they play lance the lance charge is faster then the tailraiders

Also simply running to the whatever area isn’t all that much slower, climbing is actually faster (on the larger cliffs), and tailraider riders have to demount to use shortcuts.
