I also re-installed windows and the game worked for a bit. This was after installing the latest drivers for Nvidea, so I’m sure it was a clean install for the video drivers. However, the game once again started doing the black screen thing after several hours. At this point I thought that maybe a program I had just downloaded was contributing so I uninstalled GOG Galaxy and it seemed to work again for awhile. Then it started again. Up to this point I hadn’t installed any Win updates so then I installed those and it worked. We’ll see how it goes later today, but there hasn’t been any rhyme or reason in my experience.
That's actually what a proper install is supposed to look like. Raven's friend had mods installed, hence the extra files.

Has going back to DX11 helped anyone?
Many of us had never used DX12, think that's unrelated
I've installed 452.06 and it's working so far. I will be setting restore points often and see the second it breaks if I can restore back and get it working again. This should allow me to trace what's really breaking it hopefully.
Going to take this slowly so I get some actual time to play for once this month, but I'll update when it eventually does blackscreen.
This is now the second week its not fixed for me, almost a month for some.
I was praising the series as this is my first MH but after a month of no reply i don't think i will be buying any sequels after this.
i used to be like you
It isnt necessary to wipe every 6 months with Win10 unless you're doing something sketchy.
Assuming you have plenty of free space
Not sure what else could be causing it, outside of hardware causes.
I have not attempted mods in fear of it breaking.
I'm setting restore points after every system change for when it does.
Haven't heard from Capcom in 2 weeks either after sending my system info. We really need our experiences contributed to the devs, they don't even ask for any game logs or even our Steam usernames.
