What meal (bonuses) do you eat and why?
obviously accounting for what monster youre fighting, bonus do you usually find yourself going for as the default or the one you use the most?

Apparently the defense bonus from meals becomes negligible compared to the rest of your armor fairly quickly, so people usually eat for attack, or element resist if expecting heavy elemental damage/ annoying elemental blights. More niche meals do exist, like eating for Feyline Bombardier for gunlance shelling and sticky ammo damage (as a gunlance main, this is my go-to meal), Feyline Safeguard/ Insurance for extra carts, or Fayline Fat Cat for farming zenny. Of course, this is for people trying to maximize food bonuses and not just picking Chef's Special out of sheer laziness.

When dealing with randoms, 6 beers. The bonus is not remembering the experience. :steammocking:

Moxie for ones I suck at
Bombardier when using sticky and gunlance (I can't remember if impact cb benefits or not)

It really depends on The build, for bow, I eat for felyne black belt+felyne sharpshooter. For sticky ammo, I eat felyne bombardier and felyne riser

for harder fights, I'll eat for moxie, if I'm carrying someone, I'll eat safeguard to give some leeway.

But that's just the skill, if I'm fighting kulve I'll get those skills with veggies, for most things I'll use meat

Just make sure you NEVER eat fish, it's never worth it, by the end of the game, you have over 1000 defense, and a full fish platter will add 15...

Meanwhile, that veggie platter reduces elemental damage by 15% and that meat platter adds 15 true raw, where most endgame weapons have around 300. The fish platters are simply not noticible, you will notice the damage, and the elemental resistence though :)

What build do you run? What weapon? (I'm assuming your wondering what you should be eating ;D)

Not really wondering. I have already weighed that the health/stam big boosts arent worth it since you can just use consumables.

I find myself defaulting to veggie platter because that ele defense is just toooooooo good.

Alatreon with randoms is legit the only fight that got me to start eating for Safeguard. Up until then, I've never once cared about Food Skills. I just always go for Chef's Choice lol
McJiggy Aug 2, 2020 @ 8:38pm
I always just use chef's recommended for the health and stamina boost
Bombardier for the extra damage (CB main).
Safeguard for Alatreon.
Cleats for Shara.
I have a bunch more but can't remember them all.

Bombardier for GL,Sticky,CB
Sharpshooter for Normal2 LBG/HBG
Slugger for HH
Moxie/Safeguard for hard fight
Answer easy SOS just attack up large.
I always just do the chef's choice lmao. For some stuff, like ala for example, I might use gourmet voucher then use whatever meal has atk L or elem. defense L with any kind of semi-useful skills (safeguard and moxie are first that come to mind) but other that that. I listen to the chef

Usually don't care, I like most of the bonuses. Only time I ever target eat is if I'm running a protective polish build and want polisher or safeguard/insurance.

Pretty much been eating nothing but Veggie platters since Iceborne began, lol. Save for the rare occasion when you're fighting something like Tigrex or Shara, then I'll eat a Meat one.

Will pop a Gourmet voucher mid-hunt if people have carted and there's only one faint left, and then I'll eat for Safeguard. Ate for Moxie like, once or twice, when fighting AT Nergigante, too. Ate a couple of Zoomasters when hunting for Moly in the Grinding Lands, but other than that, nope. My meal history isn't noteworthy.

Normally I eat for Atk L, but with my alatreon mix, ele Res L. Though, if Im with friends and we plan on hunting something strong, like Alatreon, or Furious, or AT nam, we'll try to get Safeguard and hopefully Insurance.

How the heck do you even get Bombardier? I've tried all manner of combinations and the closest I've gotten is Pyro ><
Toxi Aug 3, 2020 @ 12:36am
Almost exclusively Slugger.
I was using Moxie too for a hard fight, but it just doesn't seem to ever activate, either that or I don't get how this skill works.

As for bonuses, Atk L most of the time because Def L is still pretty bad last I checked and as they say, the best defense is a good offense, such as the kind that's inclined to flinch / KO a monster faster, or otherwise, Res L against something for which that's appropriate.
If I were to name monsters for which Res L would be appropriate, the likes of Kirin and Lunastra are at the top of the list, MR Teo might apply for that too with his new fire tricks.
