Armor Upgrade Limit

Sooo... At HR 74, I finally got my first Hero and Warrior Streamstones and have unlocked the ability to augment gear.

I went straight for the Drachen upgrade limit removal, hearing that I could limit break that thing to 98 Defence a piece. I was at upgrade level 4 with 78 defense on each piece when I removed the limit, but I am only able to upgrade it by 7 more levels - up to 92 defense.

I started to panic, thinking I did it too early, at a too low HR while I could have unlocked its true potential by augmenting at a higher rank, but I think that would be a terrible design choice by the developers. I remember getting 3-4 further upgrade levels every time I progressed past a certain point in the story, so I just want to make sure:

I have yet to gain access to 3 upgrade levels, which translates into the 6 remaining Defence? I assume that's what I'd unlock after completing the HR100 quest, so I still have quite a bit of grinding ahead of me. Or have I doomed myself by augmenting too early?

I didn't augment Drachen until over HR200 and all the pieces maxed out at 92. I don't think there's another upgrade level you're missing, and even if there was, I imagine you'd be able to just upgrade it further like any other piece of armor. It's not like you'd have to forge another set.

Just to be clear, it doesn't matter when you apply the streamstones to increase the armor upgrade limit; the result is the same.
