*Potential Spoilers* Shara Ishvalda Controverse
So from what i heard the new Endboss of Monster Hunter Iceborne is very controverial.
EDIT: People in the comments of youtube videos are writing all sorts of comments.
Like: ,,Wow such a cool and unique Monster"
Or: ,,Just a Xeno. Boring"
And even: ,,Such an ugly piece of trash"

My Opinion is fairly neutral over it.
On one hand, i think the idea, the music and the ending are pretty cool.
On the other hand the fight seems a bit to Xeno and the design still bothers me, even tho i know what its based of
The *frontier vibes* dont bother me because thats the least Capcom can show to that Fanbase after their game gets shut down
But i want to hear your opinion

(Note pls no hate on opinions, everyone has their own and if you cant accept then either discuss nicely or leave thanks:steamhappy:)

The only thing that should be controversial is Nerg being a textbook mary sue, immortal being that keeps the ecosystem in balance, because they couldn't think of anything else for him. No smart explanations, nothing. He's just got the "my favorite super hero is way cooler than yours and beats him because I say so" treatment.

People comparing Shara to Xeno are grasping at straws to find similarities between them.
They are both their game's final boss and they are both quadrupedal. That's it.

Honestly I haven't seen that many people actually dislike Shara, everyone's just pointing out how creepy his face/eyes/teeth are.
Xeno is below mediocre in every aspect. He looks cool at first glance and has some obvious references to Greek mythology, but that's it. His 1st and 2nd phase don't even change anything except location.

Shara however, his 1st phase is not very spectacular but the fight picks up tremendously during the 2nd and 3rd phase. Worth noting that the entire fight as well as the Ruiner repel before are taking place in the exact same locale, Shara just demolishes and expands the area with his attacks troughout the fight.
I love his twitching face and wings, really eerie. References to Buddhism, Hindi and Shinto are very well done as well.

There's one thing about Shara that bothers me though, is there any slightest hint as to what he's doing, where he came from and such? Usually there's some tidbits of lore ingame but not this time it seems.

If people think Shara is the only Frontier thing about Icebrone, then theyve ignored like 70% of Iceborne.

As far as we know, Shara was essentially destroying the Hinterlands. IT would create faultlines, and then just destroy a chunk of the Hinterlands at will. For what reason? We don't know.
About the part of Nergigante, I wouldnt say hes a mary sue. Nergigante are literally born from death; Theyre born from other Nergigante's spikes that absorb enough bioenergy to develop a new nergigante; in essence, theyre essentially born from ecosystems being "fixed", aka, a lot of death from too much population, and then in turn, maintain ecosystem balance. They kill elders that flock to the New World to keep these ecosystem destroyers from destroying the New World. They're nature's regulators;
Ruiner Nerg is essentially a Nerg that absorbed A LOT of bioenergy, to the point it grows the crystals on it's body. They are the strongest simply because they create their own fuel (similar to xeno). Shara is obviously disrupting the ecosystem, and so nerg's "job" is to stop it. One theory (which is really plausible) is that Ruiner Nerg actually understands what Hunters are up to (which, we know elders can retain this kind of intelligence, and even regular monsters will train themselves to fight hunters [deviants]); The 5th Fleet is trying to stop whatever is destroying the ecosystem in the Hinterlands, aka, Shara. So, the theory is that Ruiner fights you at the top of the mount to lure out Shara, fakes it's death, you fight Shara, and when the Hunter is on it's last limbs (we know after Ruiner's fight, the Hunter is exhausted), Ruiner swoops in, rips out Shara's throat, then leaves.
Ruiner shows higher intelligence than most elders, as if it was really just coincidentially there when Shara shows up, it would've tried to kill the hunter right after Shara was killed.
But thats just a theory, a GAME THEORY. :cozymhw:

POOTIS ENGAGE Oct 8, 2019 @ 9:32am
Personally i think shara isvalda is one of the most unique monsters ever ar first its a giant rock golem that can control the earth around it and it has the ability to use its figners like a bull dozer and when underground it looks very spider like and then its second phase it becomes very japanese oni like monster with uncanny eyes and can shoot air out of its hands to either send a small wind beam in a pointing geasture like its judgeing you or sending out multiple beams at once or sending A KAMEHAMEHA WAVE OF AIR AT YOU and not to mention AN EXPLOSIVE BALL OF AIR THAT ACTS LIKE A SPIRIT BOMB! If people that played mh frontier hated that they put lavasioth in world as the frontier monster then they will love this bizzard and straight up god like elder dragon which can topple mountains and to me is not only one of the best elder dragons but also the scariest because its eyes look straight at the camera ie you

I have not seen anyone bash shara

IMO she is probably the second best final boss of the series. Only one who just squeaks out is gog, for being gog.
-Her attacks aren't bs
-You actually need to learn to beat her, not super cheesable
-Her design is amazing
-Unlike xeno, she actually poses a threat, especially if you are trying to get tenderplates
-Her theme is pretty good

and most importantly, she is unique. People want all mh games to just be their favorite old monsters and nothing else, (looking at you zinogre stans), and while I get that some old monsters can and should come back, it is much better to look ahead and get new ones. Imagine if capcom just threw fatalis in, hacked up chamelios instead of namielle and got rid of velkhana in favor of rusted kushala. Yeah, you got your old monsters, but now we miss out on alot of new gems, and people have a hard time seeing that.

Just kind of got more hindu goddess vibes from it that anything, though you are right, that *thing* does not deserve pronouns

I mean, regular monsters that aren't specifically male or female as stated by the game itself are one thing, but what do we even know about Shara? Does it reproduce at all, is it the only one of its species? Capcom please, previous final bosses all had a bit more in-game info than "lol faultlines now kill it". Where's the actual ecology at.

Can't believe no one brought up its eyes by now. They stare directly at you. No, not at your hunter. At you, the player. I haven't seen them blinking once. Super creepy.
