Game won't even launch now.
Not sure if anyone else has this problem. I have been away from the game for a bit and just updated for Alatreon, but when I try and launch the game it says its running but nothing happens and then it shuts down. I have reinstalled it and verified the game, I haven't added any of the software they say could cause the problem since I last played.

Check your anti-virus and add your MHW folder on Exceptions.

And check your background app. Way back when in base game, some software would break mhw for no good reason.

Do you use mods? (Not sure if that’s what you mean by software)

If so remove / update them. It’s usually one called strackers loader that causes the problems. If you have a folder called NativePC - that’s where the mods are stored. The strackers loader adds some files in the base directory so if you go down the remove option you will have to find out what the files are called - the mod page will probs tell you.

This sounds like an outdated Stracker's Loader. Update it and any other mods you may have. Screenshot your MHW folder if you claim you don't have mods.

I haven't used mods since before Iceborne and even then it was a different PC. It has been on my exceptions for months also so it shouldn't be stopping it. Graphics drivers are up to date also.

Welp, I'm out of ideas besides this one. Re-installing your Steam. If it still didn't work then I got nothing.

Ok peeps, what's going on is you got leftover DLL files in the MHW folder from previous mods, or you got a bugged config file. Delete all the DLLs and config files in the MHW folder, and then verify game data after you do this. It'll replace any of the DLLs that are supposed to be there, and none of the ones that aren't. Verifying or reinstalling will not remove the stuff that's not supposed to be there.

Did you update your drivers recently? Might be an issue with a new driver.
