Do rolls even have I-frames?
I can never seem to roll to avoid or dodge attacks, ever. Is the rolling just completely different from other action RPG's? I never had a problem dodging in Dark souls or nioh, so i dont know why cant do it here.

They do have I-frames but they're very tight and only happen during the very click of the button. The active frames for the monster attacks are often longer than the dodge itself, so you have to dodge "through" the attack. For example, a tailswipe you need to roll the opposite direction it is being swung.

Some moves are just outright undodgeable(still avoidable) with bad positioning though since no matter which direction you roll, your iframes will end inside a hitbox. For example, Great Jagras's attack where he rolls over you, it has way too long active frames, so you have to avoid it simply not touching the hitbox, instead of trying to roll through it it like Dark Souls

yes rolling have I-frames
and depending on your build you can extend that I-frame with evade-window

They do but they're rather tight. Whereas Dark Souls' rolls tend to be extremely lenient as you could seemingly chain rolls and never get hit until you run out of stamina. This is why Dark Souls always had memes about its rolls.

Thats only really in ds3, in ds2 you could do about 3 rolls before running out of stamina.

They do, I always keep in mind dat the Hunter is invincible when his head is almost touches the ground. This is my personal approximation and might be false, it just my mindset dat always helps me in the battle

You can only iFrames through a very fast attack i.e. rathalos fireballs. If the monster has a slow attacking speed or a dash, you must 'dodge away'

I made dis guide recently, check it out urself some iFrames on Alatreon =)

Ah, it's been a long time since I touched DS2. But at the same time, that means you can chain 3 rolls with rather long i-frames. Whereas MHW, the i-frames in a roll(without evade window) last about 1/5 of a second.

This video goes into detail about the i-frames among other little dodge details.

6 i-frames per roll. wich is already far enough. (dark souls 3 had 13 i-frames for a normal roll and 12 for a fat roll).

dark souls was never really THAT hard, it's mostly punishing. but 3 is still very close of the difficulty of the other 2, people just think it's easier because it's less clunky and because they got gud.
