Once again: Monster hunter doesn't have servers it's a peer to peer connection which means either your internet is bad or the hosts internet. Its matchmaking is based on steam thats why you can change the matchmaking by changing the download region.

To correct the above, it's not p2p.

Its on a server, uses a client side compensation model to update positioning. That's why you can DC, and your friends are still in the same room you started. They've been using this method for years on MoHun regardless of platform.

Not everything is p2p

I love joining a SOS when the host is on sketchy Wifi which is just good enough that our connections won't drop but the monster will pause constantly for 2/3 seconds allow for a real easy target.

I haven't had any disconnects myself and Capcom has remedied the disconnecting issues quite a while ago.

The game uses P2P and therefore does not have it's own servers.
In order to rule out connection issues you'll need to verify your own connection and if possible, the connection of the hunter that youre connecting to.
I'll list a few important thing that will need to be checked to ensure that your connection is stable.

Use a wired connection. Wireless connections aren't recommended for online gaming and are unstable due to the nature of this connection type.

Make sure that your not playing on a strict NAT type. (type 3)
NAT type issues can be solved by port forwarding and there are a lot of tutorials on this process that can be found on the internet. They will probably be able to explain this a lot better then I can.

Ensure that your download and upload speeds are stable and not low.
Low upload and download speeds can cause disconnects and large fluctuations can also cause disconnects.

Make sure that there's no heavy traffic that's causing you to DC. This can be a background download or another device that's making heavy use of your connection.

If you've checked everything and youre still having disconnects then you might want to contact the official support channels so they can take a closer look at the problem for you.
Make sure that you have no external modifications installed as they will only assist you if your game is completely vanilla as mods can cause all sorts of issues that they can't fix.

I hope this information solves your problem!
