To combat Alatreon's toxicity.
Alatreon is not so bad, but the player base with the stuck up personality of hurr hurr get gud mentality is worse than Alatreon. That is why capcom did not release that much monster hunter games because of players like that.

So in order to combat this toxicity. Posting screenshots of killing Alatreon and saying nothing does nothing. In fact, it is going against what the designers of monster hunter want people to do. Unite and strategize. So instead of bring a prick I am going to do something that will make me the most horroible person in the world. That is help you.

First, Alatreon is no cake walk. From a design perspective he is WAYY too hard. In fact, I think he is designed for players who play too much monster hunter. Here are the possible reasons you are failing the fight against Alatreon. Ranking most severe affecting to least.

1. Dragon blight: dragon blight is, in my opinion, 99% of why you are failing to beat Alatreon.

Alatreon is essentialy a dps check boss. Think about it. If you get hit by dragon blight you then have to spend time healing, (maybe drink two health pots + 1 null berry) That is ALOT of time. Here are some solutions:
- Gobbler, the faster you get back in the fight the better
- Wide Range, its great to help a fellow hunter now and then. think about it. if you all get hit then all 4 of you are eating away to come back to damage Alatreon by then it is too late

2. Are you starting with Ice or Dragon Element? ( Special Assignment Version) + Dealing Elemental Damage + Breaking his horns TWO PARTS

So no one says anything, typical monster hunter fashion, I wonder why we are mute lol. I am sure everyone sees people using Ice or Dragon. However, here is why Alatreon is an elemental damage DPS check he needs to get smacked to a certain threshold of elemental damage to stagger then you will get the prompt " You are suppressing Alatreon's power."

PART 1: elemental weakness

This is how he works. in the special assignment version he starts of as FIRE -> Dragon -> ICE. Meaning he is weak to Ice -> " Dragon " -> Fire in that order.
- You want to use Ice weapons because he is weak to it Initially. I don't know the exact number how much difference compared to dragon, but it is about 50% difference? not sure I will leave this to the nerds. Then he will swap to dragon and your ice will become meh "normal" damage.
WHAT THIS MEANS. During his fire element, you better be dishing a hell of a lot of damage cause if you aren't fast enough he is going only to get tough to suppress his power. If you he switches to dragon its no the end of the world, but you now have to be 2x efficient in your hits or else you will not survive the super nova.

PART 2: Alatreon's mechanics. BREAK HIS HORN

He switches from Fire -> Dragon -> Ice. This is his pattern if his horns are not broken at all.

Fire -> Dragon -> Ice -> Dragon -> Fire.

This will become problematic because remember he is weak to Ice, Initially. Well if he goes to Ice Mode and you are swinging that ice weapon (can't change it) you aren't going to be dealing elemental damage. What this means is that your damage you see ie: 300 while he is in ice mode. will not contribute to the elemental damage pool. Which means that as soon as he pops back into dragon you now have to make up for the lost work of dealing 0 elemental damage to the hidden damage pool. ( You most likely won't and will die)

However, you can control his elemental dragon through the breakage of his horns. You can make him go

Fire -> Dragon -> Fire -> Dragon.

To do this, you need to make sure you break his horns in his damage phase before he completely changes to the opposite element. If he changes to ice you pretty much game over. In order, for him to reset the cycle he has to go all the way back to fire, but by that time you are already dead 5 times. In short, BREAK his HORNS in dragon mode if you don't its pretty much a death sentance

3. Are you dealing elemental damage?

Sadly not all weapons are treating the same. The most notable is shield and sword. You only do elemental damage when your sword swings. Shield bashes don't count. So that said not all weapons are created equal. There is alot to go, but if you do see elemental spark, you probably aren't doing elemental damage.

4. Complete advantage over opportunities

Let's get this straight. Alatreon's arena is hard. However you have to make room for the opportunities to deal damage because Alatreon's is mobile as hell. Thank god you guys have the camera analog stick.

You need to take advantages of all possible opportunities. Mount knocking him down, clutch claw smacking him into the wall ( there is 4 tiny triangular rock formations where he can crush his head into. the entire arena is not smack my head here), flash podding him out of the sky so he is more damageable for all weapons, hitting his elemental threshold so he falls over.

5. Jerky?

During his super nova, he will damage you but you will lose health while having all that red. This means you can use an Astera Jerky to recover that red health instantly. and if your green health goes down low, use it again and it will be full again.

Problem is you only have 5 make it count.

6. Hit his weakpoints.

Head and front fore arms hit those especialy when he falls over. His wings and tail are breakable, but they are problematic. If everyone focuses on those parts for more reward there is a chance you guys will fail. Think of those parts as a bonus while killing him himself is the main course.

7. Don't be a douche
- Self explanatory don't go around being toxic with your get guds that doesn't help. Also makes you look toxic sorry butt who wants an award for something insignificant

My thoughts on Alatreon. He's hard, but in an unfair way.

On paper, Alatreon is the "final boss" of MHW you are going to use all the mechanics you learn to beat him. Clutch claw knocking, mount damage, flash pod, jerky, elemental damage, etc. The problem is he is designed to have everything happen picture perfect and it isn't always the case. Ie: if you mount him and you fall off. Thats it you dead you can't recover and if you can (i haven't seen this cause I usually don't please let me know).

What is the take away?

You yourself as a player have to pull your weight on Alatreon. Alatreon is nearly impossible for someone to get piggy backed because everyone needs to their part to beat him.

If you want to discuss, let's go I don't mind giving advice. We don't need toxicity here.

To be fair, a lot of bad players want to clear him, but they never really learned the game properly. A ton of players got ahead because of how many crutches this game has, like temporal, rocksteady, chugging pots, farcasting back out for more pots etc. People are already able to solo this beast, so he's not as impossible as people cry.

Sadly it's just too common for people here to cry about a monster rather than improve themselves as a hunter. Oh no. We have to grab an elemental weapon. God forbid we actually farm furious rajang for a great thunder weapon, or beat up Ruiner a few times to make a dragon weapon.

huh I never see anyone used thunder, I personally do the DPS support. As in, affinity booster. I don't spend my time healing people (currently).
I'm basically a, I don't give you permission to die.
DPS better boost your attack up

So far it is working like mad

games are meant for enjoyment not for enlarging your e-peen, and if you're not having a great time then at least try your best to meet that enjoyment

IKR? if you aren't talking with a get gud menality you must be salty. That is apparently the benchmark for the toxic players.

Calling me salty and not beating Alatreon (already got the full set, and a few upgraded weapons). I think they are just salty because im helping other players when they decided to work dumb and figure things out on their own.

From my perspective, I can give people info, execution is up to them. My tips and advices aren't one size fit all. ie: someone talk about wide-range gobbler. This is to help people getting hit. If people are skilled at it no need for it and boom set more focused.

Lives are very important. Can't win if your partners are dead, (finding it problematic that while im dodging and on the DPS, people behind me just falling)

ok to all those who say that alatreon is o so supereasy for them to do
show us your skills vids
and being o so "leet" you wont have a problem with following requirements:
a) no mods used, bare game
b) solo (even no palico)
c) naked
d) no (food) buffs
e) no consumables
f) no faint
g) killing time <5 minutes
h) want to use a sporebat?
So, setting an impossible goal is your way of trying to show that Alatreon is "unfair"?

This is an example of get gud mentality falling apart.

I am happy that they made Alatreon that strong, just to have these hard times fighting it

Valstrax when since there is no loading i just want to see him fly up and hit someone who recently carted a few maps away lol

Git Gud, no seriously, stop complaining and play the game.

This game its supposed to be difficult so, they only need to play more and go with the correct gear, I am always helping people with Alatreon as many high level players, this game is full of players that help people, enjoy the aid and GITGUD.

This game is about skill, the monster claps your cheeks? We play enough until the monster is the one getting its cheeks clapped.

You can do it guys!

What complaint? Can you qoute me complaining?

"git gud" in all variants ableism, ageism, elitist toxicity

the game btw is supposed to sell a max number
not to cater the (usually younger) "self proclaimed elite"
a game for that audience would quite likely have much lower sales figures.
not 15 mil
and while the sales figures for iceborne are still very good they are dissapointing compared to core games sales figures, around one third

most of the former players i know, stopped playing, even did not buy iceborne as a result, thanks to the balancing/difficulty topic & encounter-design-faults

MHW is a bit of an odd pickle. I think the franchise leading up to it is more lax.

MH story, which is really good RPG wise in my opinion. They literally made rpg more fun because press attack its more like what pattern will your monster do against you. Even combining attacks with your monstie dang they over killed it. However, since " ITS NOT MONSTER HUNTER" the vocal minority hated it.

When MHW release people complained its dumb down. In my opinion, its MH modern version 1.0 Kind of like how how monster hunter Generations only had 4 styles, then Generations ultimate have 7 styles. Thats when MHW did. MHW has core basics, Iceborne introduce clutch claw, few mew contents im sure they will add more mechcanis. They don't want players to scuffle threw alot of things to do one thing. They want people in there and fighting in the monster hunter way

Wait, Alatreon is hard? I'm not even 999 999 , just typical 400 something mr ,and it took me like within 10 games to beat it with randoms in special assignment (20min). After that when I farmed in Event quest with randoms, it was even easier, 11-15 min per run. Just don't die and with decent build you can beat it . Play safe and hope teammates don't die, thats it~

I mean he isn't the easiest, but once you get used to it , it's defintely not hard at all, and I actually think bigger mosnter like safi and Alatreon are kind of sand baggy, you have a lot of opening to get free long hits.( like back legs).

Players that spent time, with proper research and play real safe with effort every game , still fail the mission because of other players that keep dying non stop. Some players are just not prepared enough to fight an end game monster, so ya, he would proably troll you and tell you to "git gud" because you make him fail lol That's why you keep fighting until you win, gives you a motivation to get good at the game when somethings hard no?

When I was like 200 HR in MH, extreme behemoth was like wtf to me, I never beat it, until one day I got carried by 999 999 player, all I did was not die and poke some dmg here and there. I got my layererd armor and was happy and never fought it again lol Now THAt WAS A HARD MONSTER. Alatreon is nothing in comparison imo

To me HR Kulv taroth design was way more WTF to me than any other monster in the game. But I think Iceborne is a fantastic game.

Can we talk about entitlement whole we're at it. I was in a group (before my clear) and every carted but me (even tho I was big boi healing them). When we got back to the hub I rejoined them and one of the players said 'make it two people less carts' right after I joined.

So I replied 'thats nice. I didn't cart once but thanks for wanting to boot me' and they reply 'i have been at this fight longer than you, I just want to kill him'. (Big doubts I was fighting him since release the night before)

So? So do we? It's not just about you, and if it is. Play solo. if there is a player that IS pulling their weight in the fight very clearly...why turn them down????

It's all about the 'ive been at this fight longer so I deserve a clear' that pushes these people into get gud territory. But in a way it's almost more annoying because it's like dealing with a spoiled 4 year old.

At the end of the day much like extreme behemoth it's ouroboros a true repeating cycle. This thread does nothing it won't change nothing. And let's be very honest it's no longer constructive just a screaming match.
