Which weapon you think will help you break the horn easily ? From that choose either ice or fire depend on the quest .

The best weapons are actually the kjarr line weapons due to the innate crit element on them. For the initial special assignment for Alatreon the best element to have would be ice. This is because he starts out in fire mode and you can delay his transition to ice mode to continue dealing elemental damage. If you want more versatility in case you can’t brake his horns when he enters dragon mode then instead you’d want either water or dragon element in that order. water gives 2 star effectiveness for the initial fire mode and 1 star effectiveness everywhere else. Dragon element unfortunately only has 2 star effectiveness for the dragon mode and a similar 1 star effectiveness for the other phases. Thunder should be considered last simply because its a 2 star effectiveness for the ice form which you should be trying not to see.

I use alatreon HH against it. It got element buff (L) and element effective up so I don't need to worry passing element dps check. Need 18 min tho.

All Kjarr, because it increase elemental attack and having critical element.

Yeah I'd like to see some builds, in particular I don't know what are good upgrades to put on Safi weapon for this fight

kulve returns next week already. just wait for her. safi elemental weapons suck ass. thier elemental value is way too low for most of the raw variants to begin with.

if you just wanna kill it once solo just eat for safeguard and just eat 2 novas. then you can even use raw weapons just fine. elemental builds are only really needed for farming in a party as you cannot afford to eat novas in partys.

Two options.

If you're confident that you can break the horn each dragon round AND kill it before the third Eschaton Judgment, then pick fire/Ice against the thing. If it's fire, then pick ice. If it's ice, then fire.

If you're NOT confident that you can break the horn each dragon round AND kill it before the third Eschaton Judgment, then pick thunder/water. If it's fire, water is the best bet. If it's ice, thunder is the best bet.

Dragon is bad due to the following reason:

Go dragon or preferably water or thunder, if you want an element for all phases.

Multipliers for each element (the higher the number, the more damage you deal):
Elementless mode: Fire (1); Water (0.8) Ice (1); Thunder (0.8); Dragon (1)
Fire mode: Fire (0); Water (0.8) Ice (1.1); Thunder (0.25); Dragon (0.1)
Ice mode: Fire (1.1); Water (0.25) Ice (0); Thunder (0.8); Dragon (0.1)
Dragon mode: Fire (0.5); Water (0.4) Ice (0.5); Thunder (0.4); Dragon (0.7)

Fire has an average multiplier of 0.65.
Water has an average multiplier of 0.5625.
Ice has an average multiplier of 0.65.
Thunder has an average multiplier of 0.5625.
Dragon has an average multiplier of 0.475.

This basically means that the fastest and best runs are achieved by using the either fire or ice (depending on the quest. Evening Star=> use Ice and break one horn in the respective dragon mode phase/Dawn of the Death Star=> use Fire and break one horn in the respective dragon mode phase).
Water and Thunder do the same job Dragon does but simply slightly better.

I soloed the fight using the Soulfire Rasp "Blaze" LBG. Has both rapid fire ice and fire. Didn't have to worry about horn breaks either.

To sum up this, just use water if starting fire and thunder if starting ice. Damage is good enough to pass the 1st elemental check with no problems and you won't have to worry if you break the horns or not.
Also, water/thunder are the most useful elements for each quest in multiplayer. Lots of people use ice/fire weapons but when they miss the chance to break the horns, the team ends up f*cked.

These are the builds I used against Alatreon: https://imgur.com/a/PZk0VYz
The first build is is if you don't have any Alatreon pieces yet. You can use whatever horn you like and just switch out the charm and one deco to use the right element. If he's Ice, use a fire horn and vice versa. You must break his head for this one, but that shouldn't be so hard.

The second build is really comfy as well. It does crazy elemental damage and I had no problems solo'ing him with it.
