Is dragon element good for trying soloing alatreon?
more precisely with safi chargeblade?

Fire mode: Fire (0); Water (0.8) Ice (1.1); Thunder (0.25); Dragon (0.1)
Ice mode: Fire (1.1); Water (0.25) Ice (0); Thunder (0.8); Dragon (0.1)
Dragon mode: Fire (0.5); Water (0.4) Ice (0.5); Thunder (0.4); Dragon (0.7)

Fire has an average multiplier of 0.65.
Water has an average multiplier of 0.5625.
Ice has an average multiplier of 0.65.
Thunder has an average multiplier of 0.5625.
Dragon has an average multiplier of 0.475.

This basically means that the fastest and best runs are achieved by using the either fire or ice (depending on the quest. Evening Star=> use Ice and break one horn in the respective dragon mode phase/Dawn of the Death Star=> use Fire and break one horn in the respective dragon mode phase).
Water and Thunder do the same job Dragon does but simply slightly better.

It is possible (I did it with Kulve's Long Sword) but takes longer and you risk not meeting the dps check.
Problem is Alatreon is not an easy monster to kill. It has a bunch of attacks you have to keep an eye on. I sugest using the Palico tool that creates distractions (forgot the name at the moment) so it won't focus only on you.
And, it is monster hunter so...you will probably cart a couple times before learning its pattern, just don't give up.
The good thing about going solo is that carting to escathon will not end the fight, as it will take you only one team life.

Dragon element is fine for Alatreon. I can cancel his judgment just fine using only a dragon kinsect + cat. I never even hit him with the weapon once.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'd definitely go fire/ice and make sure to break horn in dragon mode. So much quicker and efficient than dragon CB.

This is the optimal way and it is recommended that you learn how to break the horns reliably. Consider going partbreaker, if you can hit the elemental threshold much faster than every 6 mins.
You can do it without partbreaker, but if inexperience is your problem, partbreaker will help you out a lot (provided you hit the elemental damage check relatively fast).

Alatreon only gets a 2 star weakness to dragon damage when he's in his dragon mode, otherwise it's just 1 star. This has been enough for me to suppress the nova, personally, but it's probably better to just counter his starting element and break horn so he can't suppress your elemental damage.
Badabé Jul 11, 2020 @ 8:24am
so to summarize: dragon is fine, but it would be better to use the element which he is initially weak (either fire or ice), break the horns in dragon mode so he won't change state for a bit and when both horns are destroyed i'd better kill him before he utterly anihilate me with his nova at full power right?
Waffles Jul 11, 2020 @ 8:26am
tl;dr

Ice/Fire if you're confident you can break the horn.

Dragon/Water/Thunder if you aren't.

The stars are misleading on how weak he is to dragon, on some sites with data he has a 1.0 weakness to dragon while in the dragon form while in the other forms he has a 0,1 weakness to it. Means your dragon element will be doing nothing, and from experience with a friend we both had high dragon element on our weapons and we barely managed to get the first check but always failed the second, once we switched to fire and ice passing the dps checks was a piece of cake. Seems dragon is the worst element against him.

The other problem with this is, when is Alatreon ever in elementless mode? I don't know why it exists in the data like that, but if you look only at Fire/Ice/Dragon you'll see that dragon is not exactly a good element to run against him. Taking Elementless mode drops all of the averages but hurts dragon a fair bit more than the rest. You'd be banking on his dragon phase for every elemental damage check, assuming the check is for total elemental damage dealt and not just hitcount or something.

Quality insight. (honestly no sarcasm)

As far as I understood it, on reddit was a list with his weaknesses and there was a comment about him being elementless while he lies on the ground when you reach the element threshhold.

I don't know if it's allowed to link reddit posts, so I won't link it directly:

You can't really gauge effectiveness when you don't have a control. You can easily have gotten carried by the 2 other people. At the end of the day, these are just numbers on paper. If you can't break the horn at the right time, or if he runs out of horns and is still alive, you're pretty much screwed with ice/fire. The other 3 elements are more reliable.
