the genre of the game changes each time you complete an objective (special conditions for genres which don't have an objective)
i think that would be fun i think!
MT Mobile & Lite (Forked from MT 1.0)
MT 1.0 (Monster hunter 1)
Next thing you know Unreal Engine 4 forked from Unreal Engine 1..... right? :s
All of the previous MH games have been on MT 1 or its fork MTL/M
Let's Take Final Fantasy, after the 10th game they started doing wierds things :
11 - Was a MMO
12 - Was a solo real time battle system inspired by mmo mechanics
13 - Was it's own Real Time / Menu System (I forgot the exact name of the system)
14 - Was again a MMO (and right now one of the most popular)
15 - Was an action game with RPG elements
As you can see you can make a new game in a franchise without making it the exact same thing as the last one, but people are afraid of doing that, because people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate changes, especially in a video game, and will only accept a sequel if it's the exact same thing as the last game.
Which then, isn't a new engine, but a new iteration of the same engine, which are two different things.
Just likie Unreal Engine 2, 3, 4, are completely different from 1 and each other.
Just like ID tech 1, 2 , 3, 4, 5. Gamebryo and Creation engine.
All are different. All are freshly made.
MT 2.x wasnt forked from 1.0
I am done. Have a good one.
But then why use your brand new engine, to do the same game with the same monsters ? then never use it again because you made another engine. it's like buying a new Ferrari to do your daily commute to a bakery to buy some croissants then one day decide you're gonna trash that ferrari and take the bus instead
I am indeed ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i also ♥ you
This game uses mt framework 2. It was their main engine before they developed the new RE engine. Rathalos here isnt the same than rathalos in the other games (example). They can't simply port a 3ds game monster over to this one. A lot of work is behind that even if the monsters itself aren't new. Only because the design is from older games doesnt mean they are lazy or whatever here.
Even mentioning fifa and comparing it somehow even if it's a joke.. hurts. Fifa is famous for it's mta billions of dollars from it's milking cows. Nothing more and nothing less.
Would make slightly more sense if we would have to buy weapon or skill lootboxes.
Also mhw was at first.. just a market research game. We wouldnt have iceborne if mhw wouldnt be such a success. The next game will probably have more unique monsters.
That really sums it up thanks.
I'm gonna select this post as the answer because i can't argue with it
