Behemoth Shearclaw
Can you obtain Behemoth Shearclaws with the Plunderblade method??
And if so what is their chance to obtain?

you cannot get Shearclaws with the Plunderblade, you have to either kill behemoth and get it from carving or from breaking any of his feet.

Wait you can't? I always thought you could get them that way.

It only becomes a carve if you've broken his claws, so no. Maybe after a break you can start plundering them, but I feel like that isn't the case considering I haven't heard of it as a strat for plunder farming.

I remember when Behe came out some people suggested using plunderblade for solo farming but i haven't looked into that at all. So i always assumed it does work since it's also not a special reward like AT tickets.

Plunderblade is for mane and bone I think. In solo farming they break one of the front claws then return. This guarantees a shearclaw.

is it easy break the foreclaws? i got all partbreaker gems

For Shearclaws you have to blow up Behemoth's feet. The quickest way is to grab a gun with sleep ammo, preferably one with Stickies (e.g. Lunastra's LBG or Devourer) and sleep bomb the claw it falls on. With mega bombs, Bombardier 3 and Partbreaker 3 it takes three bombings + a chunk of damage. Then just return from quest (not abandon). Rinse and repeat until you have all the claws you need.

You can also gather horns and tails along the way with sticky-bombs and slicing ammo respectively if you still need those.

For all the other basic materials you can use the Plunderblade.

if you’re going to hit up that behemoth shearclaw farm, going to recommend that you use the empress shell styx light bowgun, and use slicing / sticky / sleep ammo to break them. Look up how to craft things from the radial menu as well so you can craft max potions and ammo quickly while fighting him. Go in solo as well and proc fortify twice beforw the fight before you eat. Partbreaker is nice too. You have to hit his front feet until they break.

it’s the hardest part actually. but you get them eventually.

though idk why you’re bothering pretty sure the only time you use shear claws is on the armor which becomes outdated in iceborne right around master rank 2 star quests. So if you’re going to buy the expansion might as well not even bother with it. It’s really tedious without friends helping out.

few days? More like 5 quests. As soon as you get to the 6th monster in things start hitting about as hard as arch tempereds with fully augmented armor. :P i don’t think it’s worth it at this point
