FPS Problem from middle end(?) Laptop
(Reposting in General for more visibility)
Tbh, the current FPS I have right now is far worse than the 1st day MHW released on PC! I never face this problem before, in the past, with everything mid, I could get around 50-60 FPS, but recently, with low and everything turned off, I can get only 15-40 FPS, even with the Great Jagras and not talking about Nergigannte! With the upcoming Iceborn on the horizon, I am trying to get the problem solved real quick.

My Laptop Spec:

CPU: Intel Core i5-8300H @2.30GHZ
RAM: 24 GB
System: Window 10 64-bit OS
Graphic Card: GTX 1060
Driver Version:441.66

Heat problem? How old is your laptop? when was the last time you changed thermal paste?

I externally clean (swiping and basic dusting) every 2-3 weeks, so far I haven't try disassembling it (I once turned it to the tech center to fixed some screen problem+cleaning maybe around 4 month ago tho)

only 1 year old, i think and no, I never change the thermal paste, as I afraid that by disassembling the laptop by myself would revoke the guarantee/insurance
Your pc might be using the integrated graphic card or mhw is, try checking your bios

You could also check if you have the hd texture pack enabled in the game

Let us know your progress :)

I Checked the nVidia Control penal and already set MHW to use High-Performance NVIDIA processor since nearly the first day, does that count?

Surprisingly, some of the games also suffered from the similar symptom, on the different scale, like Grim Dawn that eventhough it seems I am above the recommendation, it is often suffered from low FPS or stutter as well, but MHW suffered the most, i think.

But some games still perform well

The only thing i can think of since more games suffers is that the laptop is using the integrated gpu as someone stated above and not the 1060, your laptop have developed a heating problem over the year or you have a ton of stuff open on your pc at the same time while you are playing, knowingly or unknowingly

1. Is your laptop fan is loud when playing game?
2. Check the power source, see if you plugged it in and connect properly
3. Check power setting, see if it set you on battery saving plan
4. How much time does your laptop insurance have left?
5. Update/downgrade GPU driver

-Check bios anyway, gpu settings may override the nvidia control panel
-Download a monitoring program like hardware info and check temperatures and if the Cpu is thermal throttling, also check if the Gpu is boosting cerrectly
-Check your Oem website and see if there's a recent driver otherwhise just roll-back the nvidia drivers

Double check that you have turned off Battery Boost in GeForce Experience if you have it installed.

Ok, I did try and disable the battery boost in Geforce Exp. With the mid setting, I got quiet a decent FPS with the nergigante at the elder recess. However, as the fight went for 40secs- 1 minute, everything started to fall down, FPS tanked to the rate of unplayable like before, at this point I was convinced that it's because of the heating problem, but how come? If any expert on ASUS TUF GAMING FX504 Series here, I do appreciate their advices, etc. Thanks for your suggestion tho.

Yeah sound like your regular case of thermal throttling

If your insurance still valid, send it back to them and ask for cleaning service

If it expired take it to a computer shop

Otherwise you can do it yourself, pretty easy actually, just prepare these:
-a video of dissembling process of your laptop
-a tool to pry it open
-a compressive air can
-a thermal paste tube
>Pry it open, blow the dust out of the fan (if possible open the fan and apply new oil), change the thermal paste and clean the dust fliter then put it together and you're done

Seriously, clean your laptop at least each 6 month
