Tell me why your weapon should be my next

I want to binge on MHW a bit before IB hits to get back into the swing of things before ramming my face into newer, harder monsters. (Well, not really newer, nergi and tigrex are ol' friends.) However, I'd like to try getting into a new weapon to spice things up a bit. So what's your main and why should it be what I focus on the next couple days?

I main Gunlance overall with HBG in my back pocket for those monsters where gunning is preferable, but have also played a fair bit of SnS on PC as well. Then some HH for the rare group hunting back on MH4U and a bit of CB because CB is easy mode and who doesn't like easy mode.

SnS, no question need to ask. If you suddenly miss bonk-ing, use the shield.
A win-win situation.

IG has a versatile moveset that reaches high and sweeps wide, can trigger boulder traps without sheathing (kinsect), can easily heal up on monsters that give green extract, and has the vault as a vertical dodging option.

Everyone in this thread mispelled Light Bowgun. Get the pew pew with the dodge dodge and the fun fun bowgun. Also there is nothing more satisfying then laying down a wyvernblast, stepping back from it to pew pew, the monster turns to charge, right into the wyvernblast which makes it flinch or fall over. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's SO satisfying, especially when it knocks them over!

I go back and forth between HH and GS, but I’d say my loyalty lies with HH.

Even some MHW vets don’t know this, but HH is literally the ONLY weapon that doots the doot of your people

I don't use hammer, because I find hunting horn too similar too. Go for something way different. My 3 fave's are Greatsword and Lance (tied for 1st place), and hunting horn in 3rd. I'd say switch to a slicing weapon and go for those tail shots. Greatsword is great because it destroys everything. Lance is godmode. You can go toe to toe, chase them down, mount them just as much as an insect glaive, rip pieces off. It's amazing. It's almost too easy though... it makes most monsters a complete joke. Charge blade is complex but different and fun. I don't really like the quick/light weapons (sword and shield, dual blade, switch axe.) Ranged combat is different. I prefer the bow and light bow gun over the heavy.

Don't think of it as a sword and shield, think of it as a sword and blunt weapon. You beat the monster with whatever one fits the situation/HZV. lefty or righty, slashy or bashy.
