Obviusly if someone doesn't have tons of hours and materials, then it's impossible for them to use max potions constantly as they will waste them a lot, but for someone that has (for example) 2k max potions, then there is no reason to use mega potions
considering most randoms run MAXDEEPS builds they copy pasted from some speedrunner and then get carted by literaly anything that seems a quite normal scenario
Many players don't run max DPS builds and they cart frequently. It's crazy how your perspective changes when you put yourself in someone else's shoes for once, huh?
I always play with a friend, and he bought mhw on september and I made him farm materials for max potions. Since he started using only max potions to heal, he carts way less because max potions take 1-2 seconds less to heal in EVERY scenario, even if you have to heal 10 hp and you do like "mega potion, heal then roll to stop useless heal" it still takes more time than just using a max potion.
So, this said, you shouldn't waste zenny and time on mega potions, but you should spend time on farming materials to craft max potions, as it's the best way to heal in every scenario. If you have, for example, 1 hp left and you have peak performance, you actually won't use max potion, but mega potion neither. In this case you should actually heal with health augment on weapon (if you have, but you probably have since it's mandatory on most weapons expect bow and some LBG/HBG builds)
But the amount of money/research points needed to harvest and/or buy mega potions is dirt cheap. It's just much more convenient than farming imo.
I know it's cheap but I would still farm for max potions as it makes you insta heal and pretty much immortal if you don't get oneshot
