Defender dual blades are simply the best right now?
So... i've been trying to find a reason not to use the defender dual blades now that i'm at the endgame, but i can't for the life of me do so. They have the highest raw damage, sharpness and a lot of blast. The only other to come even close are the Deviljho daggers with the same raw damage, dragon but a lot lower sharpness and -20% affinity.

Since i learned that elemental damage isn't really a big advantage and raw damage is far FAR better, i just can't see a reason to leave the defender blades behind... (at least until iceborne comes out)

in most cases, except for HH/bow/greatsword, the defender weapons will be best in slot or second best in slot.

blast db builds will heavily favor the blades, as will raw builds. they are currently meta.

meta builds are freely available and will be relevant for any user staying with the base game, or others up until jan 6 or w/e for IB.

Defender GS is better than Wyvern Igni

Dual Blades are about elemental damage, not raw. However, they are better than the thunder weapons and often on par with the craftable options. They lose to standard KT and Kjarr weapons the moment a monster has a decent elemental weakness. That being said, if you start a new character now, it's obviously not worth it to farm KT.

no.

wyvern still has higher damage numbers. defender will need to rely on PP to compete with wyvern, and it won't blast proc nearly enough unless you're spamming strikes, in which case wyvern will win with unga bunga accuracy or ledge memes.

defender is just easier and more comfy to use out of the box, and easier to acquire. it is second best.

the base game doesn't have the 5% elementless nerf yet. we're getting that on jan 6 =p

Wait, base MHW gets the Iceborne changes three days before the Iceborne content?

I agree! absolutely ruins the experience of the game for newcomers and devalues it greatly!

The first post is hot dung, Luna Nerg CB has 190 raw compared to Defender CB at 220 raw. Defender Shield V is better than Diablos CB, so why would Ruin CB even come close? How much do you have to screw up the maths to make a 30 raw difference come out in favour of the one with 30 less raw?

I mean, it REALLY helped me for the particular situation i'm in, since i completed the game on PS4 near launch, but had to double dip in PC because the price of dollar in my country skyrocketed to ridiculous levels, and buying MHW on PC was cheaper than paying for 3 months of PSPlus... so yeah, having the defender weapons to get back to the endgame without much hassle has been great for me, now i can leisurely farm the other weapons. But now that i'm at the end its a bit dissapointing that there's no weapon better than the defender one, i was expecting it to be good till the endgame but then get outclassed by the truly maxed weapons... but nope!

I dunno man, since i REALLY looked into elemental damage, that whole thing felt appart hard. I've been playing Duals for elemental damage since 3U, but now it seems really worthless. Basically that say "120" Thunder damage, is only really 12 extra damage on top of the raw one, and it only applies in certain parts of the body of the monster... so any weapon with a tiny bit more raw damage outclasses that every time. It inmensely sucks since i really liked using elemental damage, but it is what it is i guess.

Really? when did that happen? (i've been away from the game for a while), if that's true then thank god! (or the devs i guess), it made the game a lot more boring not to have elemental damage. How does it work now?
