Best longsword build?
What's the most optimal build atm for pc? I just grinded divine slasher and need a build for it.

Just helped my friend get that sword last night. Wow arena sucks :P.

I told him to try:

Nerg B, Damascus B, Teo A, Nerg B, Death B.

Put a tenderizer in nerg coil and you have some nice skills. If you have it (since you obviously play arena) you could go for the Brigade B chest.

Instead of focus and 2 small gem slots that would give you 2 size 2 gem slots so you could max out maximum might and throw in a crit boost.

Honestly optimal build is going to be based on how you play AND what gems you have.

But using this armor you get :

Handicraft 5
Attack 4
Health boost 3
Weakness exploit 3
Maximum Might 3
Crit boost 1
Divine Protection 1

weakness exploit 3
full might 3
protective polish
handicraft 3
attack 4+
speed sharpen 3 or fish.
Depends on if you want some survivability or a tiny bit of extra damage. Try this one though if you have the jewels.

Divine Slasher (NEB) [life]
Dragonking a (crit boost)
Kushala b (crit boost)
Teo b (protective polish)
Odo b (crit boost)
Deathstench b (crit eye) (crit eye)
Crit eye charm III

Gives
Handicraft+4
WE+3
Crit boost+3
Protective Polish
Nonelemental Boost
Crit eye+7

Could also get attack boost+4 crit eye+3 which is likely more damage.

I find max might not that good on LS since foresight uses stamina. Theres a lot of times where it wasn't active for me.

Thats foresight, but each of your helmsplitters and spirit combos will have full stamina.

Yeah but foresight uses a lot of stam, your follow up hits also wont be getting max might. 3 crit eye is 10 affinity and max might 2 is 20 some of the time. Its going to be relatively close with either one. Of course, if you go 7 crit eye instead of 4 attack 3 crit eye its a 15% affinity from the last 3 crit eye. Doing some calcs, 7 crit eye actually beats out splitting with attack and crit eye (by an incredibly small amount and only after food and power charm/talon). The more flat buffs you add the better crit eye performs.

This is the build I proposed earlier in the thread. (not pictured on the second page of buffs is one rank of Divine protection from the chest armor). This build does not include the 3 slot gem in the weapon so you can add whatever you want there.

It requires:

2 attack gems
1 crit boost
1 weakness exploit
1 maximum might

3 vitality gems (which could be swapped out for attack gems if you have them).

My build gives you in terms of gem slots : 39 slots worth of gems !

With full stamina on a critical area you will have +80 affinity.

You will most likely want to put an elementless gem in the sword.

I was considering using the brigade for 2 points of crit boost on a chest piece but couldn't quite find a set that was better with it compared to the main normal stuff.

text form:

This build is essentially max DPS (it would be max DPS with an attack augment instead of health regen). It also has 3 key attributes that help you survive. This means more uptime and no deaths, which in reality gives you the quickest clear times. Here it is:

Deviljho Longsword
Nerg Helm Alpha (Attack jewel)
Brigade Chest Beta (Sharp Jewel/Crit Boost Jewel)
Kaiser Hands Beta (Handicraft Jewel)
Nerg Waist Beta (Crit Boost Jewel)
Nerg Legs Beta (Crit Boost Jewel)
Exploiter Charm

Augment your Jho LS with Affinity/Health Regen

This set gives you:

Attack Level 4 (which is +5% Affinity cutoff)
Weakness Exploit
MAX Critical Boost
MAX Maximum Might
MAX Divine Blessing
Level 1 Handicraft
Level 1 Protective Polish
Level 1 Nerg Hunger Set Bonus

Run Affinity Booster/Rocksteady Mantle

A couple call outs:

1.) This setup has 70% affinity when hitting weak spots without the affinity booster active (which you should ALWAYS be targeting)
2.) Take 30 minutes and farm up some whetfish scales for two swipes to refresh your protective polish. You can also create a custom meal at the canteen that has felyne polisher and attack up large, and use a voucher before eating. Regardless, whetfish fins are more reliable for sharpening.
3.) Nerg Hunger and the Health Regen Augment will keep you near full health, and divine blessing is also on this set to give you a small cushion. A dead Long Sworder does no damage!
4.) If you’re playing solo, get the coral orchestra gadget for your cat, even more affinity and attack!

edit; some formatting

That only 1 handicraft is going to hamper your damage unless you kill the monster in literally less than 60 seconds.

There's no single best build, different strokes for different folks and all that. Here's mine though:

It's not 100% optimal, but it's highly offensive and has wiggle room with jewels. The brace and three attack jewels aren't strictly needed, they can be changed to taste (useful for effluvia against Hazak or paralysis against Kirin).

I'd get some fishing done if I were you, most min/maxed melee builds go for as little white sharpness as possible, then rely on protective polish to keep it there. That means mid-battle sharpening, that means you're going to want whetfish scales to avoid wasting points on speed sharpening.

For divine slasher, there are several non-negotiable skills. Handicraft 5. Protective Polish. Weakness Exploit 3, and Critical boost 3.

If you absolutely, positively want to milk the thing for every ounce of power it's worth.

Divine Slasher w. Protective Polish Jewel.
Dragonking Eyepatch w. Tenderizer Jewel
Dober Mail Beta w. Critical Jewel 2.
Xeno Claws Alpha w. Speed Sharpening Jewel
Nergigante Coil Beta w. Critical Jewel 2.
Death Stench Heel Beta w. Speed Sharpening Jewels.
Handicraft Charm 3.

This throws everything to the wind for maximum possible power.
