Is the Bow any good?

Im using the Light Crossbow and it does literally no damage. Then i Saw that the heavyone is just 7 damages higher while the Bow is actually doing nothing.

LBG and HBG do nice damage. I'm not sure, but HBG > Bow > LBG speaking in dps, and you have some solid options in late for LBG, like Karma and normal ammo, you can hit 100+ with every shot.

And yes, the bow is good, it has medium mobility and its a really forgiving weapon. You should wait to reach HR and get a solid build, there you can see the real damage that weapons achieve.

Bow is one of the game ez mode. You can chain KO even Tempered Elder Dragon in a row with Arc Shot + Spread Shot.

All weapons are very potent.

But to get the most out of the weapon you need to focus on its strengths and hit monsters weak spots.

In cast of bowguns, they all specialize in certain type of ammo, even if bowgun can use a variety of ammo, it'll be good only with a couple.

And to see the biggest impact you need offensive sets with attack, affinity, exploit weakness and so on.

For example, with Normal 2 shot I can do 80-120 damage per bullet used with rapid fire.

Bows have some of the shortest kill times on monsters if you go speed running, but elemental bows of each element and 2 rathalos pieces are completely mandatory for them.

Used well, each hit with the bow does respectable damage... and those hits come FAST.

I don't think any of the weapons in the game get my stamp as 'bad', and certainly not the bow.

If you've played a bit, upgrade your starter bow a little with some spare items and then give it a whirl against some jagras, see how it suits you.

Yes, bow is very good. While on a very stationary fight I can often kill faster with a charge blade, bow is mobile and can sustain damage on a fast monster while repositioning as long as your stamina holds out.

Yes, each individual arrow is weak, but with charging sidestep to keep your charge level up you will be doing 3+ arrows at a time every time, mixing in 5 power shot arrows when you want to.

It's an absolute stamina pig, though.

Bow is one of the strongest weapons. its very easy to use and does so much damage.

HBG is very similar in terms of damage output so it comes to preference.

LBG is the "worst" of the 3 but still fun and really good (all weapons are). elemental rapid shots are the best setup im pretty sure for LBG's

LBG is not very good right now. (but it still is possible to clear tempered elders in 3 minutes but you need to rely on rng for your bullet to proc for less reload time)

HBG and Bow can clear tempered investigations in less than 2 minutes when you have enough gear. depending on how far you're gonna walk to the enemy lmfao.

Not really ranged but if this helps when I see bow users at work its masterful usually have most broken parts in the end too. But hbg might be something else from what ive seen unless you play solo it can't reach full potential? Unless you wanna blast me back with cluster or wyvern at the head in the middle of me hammering monsters skull off haha
If this helps I met a guy with one of those dps mods according to him hbg with cluster is leagues ahead and I believe him saw a player with a Japanese username just spam clusters craft spam more clusters and it was devastating.
All weapons are good if you learn em but if you want pure dps prolly hbg?

the cluster setup (for speedrunning) relies on RNG for spare shot to proc and just stunlocking the monster to death. i havent tried it as just a regular build tho, so no idea how it compares in terms of damage output

Bow is extremely good if used right. Somehow people still fail horribly when using it though.
