All that without affinity augment.
Critical boost increases the damage of your crit hits, each level by 5%.
Its really grindy but what i'm using for karma is:
Dragon King Eyepatch -> critical jewel 2 (critical boost)
Dober mail B -> Forceshot Jewel (normal shot)
Kaiser Vambraces B -> Critical Jewel 2 (critical boost)
Nergigante coil B -> Critical Jewel 2 (critical boost)
Kirin Leg Guard -> Attack jewel 1 and trueshot jewel 1.
Karma lgb -> Trueshot jewel 1.
Mighty Charm 2.
This gives me:
Attack skill 5
Critical boost 3
Weakness exploit 3
free elem/ammo up 2
Special ammo boost 2 (increases wyvernblast damage, idk if its better than attack gems for overal dps but i can't test since i only have 1 attack gem)
Maximum might 2
Normal shots.
Normal shots skill. You can use pierce instead as well, idk how well karma does with pierce though.
Something interesting for you to consider is using equipment loadouts (there is item pouch loadout and equipment). You can actually use loadouts to change bowgun mods and equipment decorations while you're hunting on the camps.
edit: So you can make a loadout with forceshot gem and one with pierce gem. And switch on the camp as you see fit.
cause my pierce only do 10 or 15 a hit
Due to its high affinity karma comes with really low base damage, in my case i get good results with 3 close range mods and damage augmentations, then again i'm firing cc stuff or normal 1/2 so i don't need reload or recoil mods.
Normal Shots 1 has one point only, you're correct, the skill increases the damage of all normal shot ammo types. Normal shot 1, 2 and 3. If you have that skill then it will benefit any normalshot ammo you fire. Same goes for spread jewel and all spread ammo types and pierce jewel* and all pierce ammo types.
