Is nergigante supposed to 1 hit me?

Nergigante is insanely powerful. And i have a decent armor set! How do I defeat him? How do I 'git gud' ?

you can have 500 armor that you will still die one hit from nergigante tempered, OP learn this, a couple of attacks from elder dragons will insta KO you, you have a couple of choices to counter that, you can use that mantle that makes you immune against everything ( the chainmail one ) this will save you from one hit, you can build for your dodge like some already show to you, you can learn how to properly superman dive, almost all elders can insta kill you, the attacks that you must look for are the following, negigante dive, vals kamehame ha and teostra explosion

I have 500 armor and def setting, no Elder so far tempered or not can one shot kill me. maybe try that setting. XD

BS, are you taking the nergigante on your face and you are surviving ?
i have friends who play with setups like that and are getting destroyed, teostra explosion being the big daddy of em all, unless you are using a shield + shield gem i dont believe you XD

Don't put yourself down like that. Armageddon is just a hater of this game if you look on other threads he/she just hates on the game. Just farm for better armor/upgrade armor and if you're using lance you can block his dive while taking no damage with Guard 5 and Guard Up if you're willing to get the armor pieces like Uragaan just to make the fight easier.

I dont hate Monster Hunter, the oposite infact, i think the series is great, including MHW.
I think Capcoms port is terrible though, and i will hold to that 'opinion' untill such times they fix it.

Try to solo each monster at least twice before calling in for help.

I've had the least problems with monsters in MHW out of all other MH games. I find most monsters in MHW way easier than previous titles.

So with that said, if ur dieing, just practice, be patient, it will come to you.

You NEED to use some armor spheres at the workshop. Go pump up the level of your armor to at least 350ish minimum then go make an upgraded armor talon and buy another armor charm. If you plan on using your shield to block the biggest hits then get guard up.

With 480 def i can survive non enraged nergigante dive bomb though ill die if its enraged.

Talon and charm stack. Not the charm you wear as acessory, but the one you have in your inventory. You buy it from the Provision guy.

So you have armorcharm and powercharm, then buy another of each, combine those with 1 bazelgeuse talon and you got yourself power and armor talons which stack with armor and powercharm.

not enough, fully upgraded would be around 350.

Some people just find some monsters harder than others. I found Odogaron to be incredibly easy even the first time I fought him, but Anjanath can shank down my HP faster than I can blink. I have very little trouble against Diablos, but put me in the arena with Paolumu and I'll get hit over and over and over again because there's just something about Paolumu that punishes how I play. Just keep practicing, OP. Approach the battle with the intention to learn, not to win. Every time you get hit, think about what made you get hit. Try a different approach to dodging it next time. Try different angles on the boss; some bosses have blind spots. Diablos, for instance, is weak to people tickling his belly. Odogaron's attacks are almost exclusively in a straight line, meaning a side roll will dodge literally anything he does.

Also yes, obviously always upgrade your gear. Whenever you have the chance to upgrade stuff, do it. Not enough armor spheres? Go hammer out some bounties. Use the wishlist feature so you know when a piece of gear or weapon upgrade is available to craft.
