Agree with your bows, although I'd skip Nergi and for early game, I used a Rathslinger rather than the Anja Arch as an entry fire bow. Once you have really good jewels and unlock the ability to do augments, you can definitely make the Anja Arch outperform the Rathslinger, but earlier, the 40% affinity difference between the two is not easily overcome, and the whole point of a critical elemental bow build is to crit.

You usually want to start with the Kadachi bow line until near the end of high rank. The Flying Kadachi Strikebow is actually kind of meh - low raw damage and relies on elemental weakness.

What you want to do is get the Villainous Brace now that Deviljho is out and use that for tempered elders as well as most general hunts. The reasons for this:

- Brace has the highest raw of any bow without decorations

- Brace also has decent dragon damage, meaning you can put on two pieces of Rath armor and a couple of dragon attack up gems (easy to find and can be melded) to do more damage.

- The only monster that completely resists Dragon is Black Diablos - no other monster can completely resist it.

- ALL elder dragons are weak to dragon damage.

What you want to aim for is four Warrior Streamstones to reduce the negative affinity down to -5%. You can then equip the Odogaron belt (or a Critical Eye deco) to give it neutral or slightly positive affinity.

Bad advice. Raw damage isn't what you want on bows. Espcially any bows that take away your damage and you have add it back with armor.

Great hunters bow is awesome in teams i think it whas areks who put it in his top 5. I run with either tobi bow/great hunters bow or/ nergigante bow for elder seal.

Planing to make a ice bow for diablos but in poor lol

When it comes to armor i run the constitution charm 2 pieces of nergigante armor i think chest and pants for stamina regen tobi gloves for evade distance and the boots and headgear for weaknes exploit cant remember the names. This realy works out great for me.

All of this is without decorations since i dont have the good ones yet:)

Well if youre talking about bows unlike other weapons such as hammer, charge blade, and longsword there is no best bow since elemental bows are better than non-elemental all hunt type builds. So better to build one bow for each element type preferably Lightning (for Kushala and Negrigante), Fire (for Val) and Ice (for Teostra). Do a lightning build first as a lot of monsters are weak to it in this game and it also has a high affinity stat to start you up on hunts.

ADD-ON: Dragon piercer builds with non-elemental bows are only good on HR runs where your arrows penetrate through the monsters but on Tempered hunts this isnt the case.

All sensible advice :D When I was new and poor, I started with the Legiana set first for a few reasons:

Decent damage, and not many monsters are Ice resistant.
Increased quest rewards.
Extra level of bow charge.
Good evasion.
50% damage reduction.

It was my "Starter set" for HR, I did branch out and make Dragon, Fire, Thunder, and Water sets once I had the cash and materials.

Whichever looks best. I use Xeno, but was tobi till i got it. Nothing else matters, learn to dodge and accept slightly longer fights :steamhappy:

Thank you guys! Can't believe how nice MHW Community is compared to Dota 2. From what i've gathered, it's best to start off with either Diablos, Kadachi, or Great Hunters Bow.

There's multiple ways to play Bow, but consensus is Elemental > Raw for damage, but some bows, like Xeno Metora with Poison/Para/Sleep coat on it's 2 jewel slots makes it great for Support Bow play.

Raw Damage isn't as great on bow because of how elemental scales with Multi-hits, but you can still clear monsters very quick if you know how to fight them already.

I personally use and love the Hazak Velos II (Vaal Hazak's final upgraded weapon). I use a power shot build. I love the dragon element because it's usable against pretty much every monster IMO, and not to mention the most important monsters to farm are the tempered elders (who are weak to it).

Only thing I need to change is to swap out an expert jewel with a tenderizer (weakness exploit) jewel whenever one drops

I really like this build - my power shot hits with 6 arrows for pretty high damage, combined with the arc shot, it drains the monsters stamina with the drain jewels. I quite often have monsters stunned & on the ground for long periods of time dealing ridiculous damage to them.

Negative Affinity + Raw

It's not a particularly good combo on Bow. Bow relies a lot of Elemental Scaling + Affinity for damage on Critical areas.

Edit: Coilbender also doesn't have many Support Shots iirc.

Flying Kadachi Strikebow is one of the strongest bows in the game, I use it a LOT. Easy to Paralyze enemies with it and most of the roster in MHW is weak to Thunder.

Kill the pickle. Get the fist bow. Profit from high Raw, Decent Dragon, and amazin Elder Seal. :-P
